When he brings in grass entangled in his fur, he comes to me, expecting me brush it out. Which I always do, of course!
He's had hyperthyroidism for the last few years and is on daily medication. When he was younger he was a chunky cat. Nowadays he eats a lot but gets no fatter. This is him looking for his breakfast.

It becomes more difficult for Winston to move comfortably, and it has, in fact, been quite some time since he could have been described as spry. But, though his long years of enduring adventure and the outdoors have produced a coat which even on its good days we must frankly describe as disheveled, he is now kept indoors, and is washed and brushed to at least keep his erratic fur clean.
This is Bibi, my 11-year-old master of the house. He might be over a decade old but he still likes to tear around the house like a demon on fire.
The prescription diet is agreeing with him. He's put on some weight, such that his ribs are no longer obvious to the touch.

Midas, at the age of 20 a thin old cat, but still much alive, was our guest during the Christmasholidays. To his and our daughter Simone's joy he returnd save to Groningen at january the 3th.
We met this cat in a pub in Seal, Kent. She's eighteen years old and seemed very fond of Alison, as are most cats one could hope to meet. Luckily, Alison is rather keen on visiting with cats herself, so I think it all works out pretty well for everybody.

Another cat that posed for me. He or She was taking care of his entourage while stealthily I approached and took some pictures. This was the best picture of the king.
Malcolm has had a hard live, my friend Jonny got him after his previous owner tired of him. Nobody knows how old he is but when he arrived in Jonny's life he had already been blinded in one eye and had limited mobility thanks to being shot in the spine at some point with an air-rifle. Over the next year or so of living with Jonny his coat returned to it's (assumed) former glory, Malcolm also relaxed and made friends with every visitor to the house. In mid 2008 Malcolm had a leg removed after being diagnosed with cancer, and much like everything else that has befallen him in his life (like losing all his teeth) Malcolm didn't appear to let it get him down in the slightest, he just continued living his quiet but stately and dignified life. A morning stroll in the garden and an ever welcome lap appeared to be all Malcolm required in life to be fully satisfied.
I took these photos a few minutes before Malcolm was due at the vets, sadly the vet thinks he may be cancer again as he is having trouble breathing. Some cats have all the luck, some cats are like Malcolm, but it's proof that there's often a happy ending in store, no matter how crappy your life has been! Malcolm has had a fantastic retirement with Jonny.
