This image was one of my favorites for 2011. There were more than several unnerving moments as I lurked about in these old batteries of Fort Worden. Each sound, however small, is magnified in the
echo-like stillness of this somber place and ones own imagination fuels thoughts of an ill fate soon coming.
I spent 45 minutes working on this particular photograph. Understanding light and doing it in a black and white format can be a challenge at times. Had I used a film camera, I might have gone through an entire roll just to get this photograph. Now, Danielle Hughson could pull that off, but not I.
This scene reminds me of an old Alfred Hitchcock movie for some reason. I devour old movies, especially the ones so masterfully done in black and white. Again, seeing how light is used is so interesting.
2011 has been a good year for me, relatively speaking. Went to many places with good friends and learning a bit more about what it takes to be satisfied with my own photography---which is not an easy thing to do. Perhaps someday I will take a lesson from a well thought of photographer with the hopes of "getting it right, more often than not".
But, then again, maybe not. I am stubborn to the point of "try and try again" thought process!

We're Here - Introduce yourself
I wasn't going to upload this, but I best keep working on my 100x project... so here you go. :)
I am married with three kids and stay at home. My son is allergic to catfish but not other fish. My other son can snap his toes. My daughter wanted to be a cat when she grew up. I'm allergic to cats. People on Flickr and elsewhere have said my husband looks a bit like Billy Joel and it made him mad... (maybe because I teased him about it. ;0)
I try to keep personal stuff off my photostream, but it seems to find itself there anyway. I think that's because Flickr feels like family.
I did a 365 in 2011 and 2013. I missed a day in 2013 and it upset me more than I let on here. I don't think I'll ever do another 365 because of that, and because I hate waking up at night in a panic wondering if I took my photo.
I feel sad when I can't get to my contact's photos so I try to avoid Flickr altogether, but that never really succeeds.
I am a bit of a dork and don't seem to fit in a lot of the time, but I think that's a good thing.
My hands hurt right now and I just got over a stomach flu or something.
I like coffee, hiking, and crafty stuff. I don't like schedules, scary movies, or even a hint of conflict with people.
How's that for some jumbled-up, random facts about me. :)

I went to bed last night tasting the weekend I swear to gahd.
Another crazy ass week behind me.
Answer me one question.
Why people gotta be so crazy?
I mean there's 'hold my beer and watch this' crazy...
and then there's 'bat shit nutty crazy.'
Usually my weeks are full of the 'bat shit nutty' variety and my weekends are predominated by the 'hold my beer and watch this' variety.
I'm happy with that action.

Which is traditionally when I begin celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

It's probably a good thing that I'm the boss or I'd have been fired a long time ago.
