Just after noon; still just a few people on the beach and 2 guys in the water. (With an off-shore rain shower- looks like on the other side of Waimea Bay.)

"Schema Drawings are an ongoing series of graphite drawings that use Renaissance urban planning
schemes, contemporary military mapping grids, and defensive fencing patterns to generate abstract
imagesthat allude to religious and spiritualist iconography, from Tibetan mandalas and Medieval rose
windows to contemporary crop circles. These drawings explore the relationship between pragmatic
defense of physical space and abstract conceptions of space, and how these two have historically
merged to form the designs of everything from our cities to our textiles."

Romeo and Juliet, designed by artist Rachel Feinstein in 2019 for HYxOffTheWall at Hudson Yards, was inspired from a short film the artist made for the Met Opera's production of Romeo and Juliet, depicting the two title characters exchanging glances from across an opulent party from the famed ballroom scene. Architectural elements, along with the guests, are meticulousy cut out and rendered in varying layers to create a sense of depth.

"I just want to skate or die
faster than lightning and out of sight
like a demon in the night
I grab my skate and catch some air
I'm grinding my life away but I don't care
'cause skating for me is more than a feeling
I'm a prisoner of life
a slave to the grind
I slide into the future and leave my worries behind"

Love Thy Selfie, was created by artist Willie Cole in 2019 for HYxOffTheWall. No stranger to large-scale murals, Donald Robertson has filled this immense span of surface with columns of vibrant colors, layered with groups of his iconic painterly “lips.” The viewer is invited to stand in the space of their choosing and be “labeled” by defining words and phrases Robertson placed throughout his OFF THE WALL activation.
