All that house paint on the exterior had a waterproofing effect and ended up protecting the interior birch paneling quite nicely.
A wonderful store, with vintage fixtures and things for sale, as well as a special place for memories. Long story short-the owners invited us in, in spite of being closed and shared the story of their son, whose goal it was to restore this historic place. They took us through the store and told us stories, and answered our questions, even though they were closed. There story is at once sad, and inspiring. There son died tragically in a swimming accident in Asia, after completing an assignment for the Japanese Network he was working for. They are trying to keep their son's dream alive. I took a photo of this window in 2010 with a wide angle lens, a photo also still found in this set. I prefer this newer version made with a "normal" lens.. the beans are in the fruit under a white pulp which tastes sweet, and needs to be washed off by hand.
