Namu: Korean Tacos - ssam style "taco," seasoned rice, kalbi short ribs, daikon and kimchee salsa, kimchee remoulade, housemade teriyaki folded into japanese and korean toasted seaweeds

Hotbird (Off the Grid). San Francisco, California.

The centerpieces were woodsy and had pretty birds on the branches of stems.

A massive animated light show is projected and looped on the face of the Macy's Men's store.

Bradford Reed live at the Pyramid Atlantic, Silver Spring MD. 3apr10. Event was curated by DC Sonic Circuits: 2nd installment in the "Off the Grid" series of unplugged and/or battery powered experimental music performances (in this case, solar powered).

RIP Charlie! My camera died here, so I didn't get many photos.

Our Off the Grid, (No power due to PNM Mixup) March Monthly Meeting at Quelab. We were lighted and our teleconference laptop was running off of a inverter and a deep cycle battery. Internet was running of of a 12v battery powering our spare dsl modem.

The US Constitution requires a census which is an "actual Enumeration". In Alaska, that includes trappers, lodge-owners, and hermits who live in cabins off the grid. These extraordinarily hardy US census employees ride their snowmobiles on the hundreds (or maybe thousands?) of miles of trails of rural, roadless Alaska, finding each individual cabin and counting the residents.

 

We met them at the Skwentna Roadhouse (50 miles from the nearest road) where they were gathered to analyze their data.

All that house paint on the exterior had a waterproofing effect and ended up protecting the interior birch paneling quite nicely.
