One side of the lodge had the eating area, the other was this large gathering room. It was very comfortable.

BR 210 is a road that runs directly into the Waiaipi Indian Reserve. It serves as a life line to the modern world for Brazilian pioneers who only began populating this northern region of the Amazon Rainforest over the past few decades.
Mennonite farmers belonging to the ultra-conservative "Newborn" sect do not subscribe to public utilities. Instead, they purchase propane, gasoline and diesel fuel (the latter used mostly to generate their own electricity). Wind power (for pumping water) and firewood supplement their energy needs.
