Mt. Kunyit is an active volcano in the Kerinci Seblat National Park, Sumatra, Indonesia. The trek to the crater takes about six hours, and passes through beautiful cloud forests and beside fumrole volcanic vents. In the middle of the crater lies a bubbling hotspring, and what locals call "Taman Dewa" or "The Garden of the Gods." It has a spiritual, mythical place in local folklore, and is the site where local hero Depati Parbo meditated to supposedly gain invulnerability to Dutch bullets during the war for Kerinci.

Taken during a 15-day tour for speleologist on steroids, visiting lava tube caves known and unknown, all around the country (particularly in the highlands) :)
Other pearls of Icelandic nature were of course visited as well.
Traverse City, MI.
This pie pan received the title of the World's Largest Cherry Pie Tin from the Guinness Book of World Records in 1987 after beating out the neighboring town of Charlevoix. The town of Charlevoix held the title from 1976 to 1987. The Cherry Pie in Traverse City was created by Chef Pierre Bakeries (now Sara Lee) on July 28, 1987 in Traverse City, Michigan USA weighing 28,350 pounds and having a diameter of 17 feet, six inches.

As I said, I did a B&W variation of www.flickr.com/photos/jwvraets/22984468796/in/photostream/ and one of my family members wanted to see how it looked (a real B&W fan) so here it is. PP is virtually identical, with the obvious exception of the B&W conversion in GIMP (Film Simulation tool, Ilford Delta 100 model) and some local adjustments below the body to bring the detail up a bit) .I am still waffling on which I prefer. - JW

Photo walk in DC. Walking around DC with my oldest nephew. He was playing Tour Guide. Many of our excursions were to places off the beaten path for tourists. I loved it. Can't wait to get back to DC for more exploring with him. He loves photography as well.
