ESCONDIDO, California – North America's fastest bicycle messengers, Christina Peck and Mason O'Neal, will soon be riding stainless steel bicycles, made of KVA STAINLESS's(TM) award-winning MS2(TM) tubing built by handmade bicycle maker Alchemy Bicycle Company(TM), of Austin, Texas.
The speedy urban peddlers won these as the top prizes at the North American Cycle Courier Championships, held in Austin, Texas, June 7-9.
Women's winner, Christina Peck holds her winner's certificate.
Women's winner Christina Peck, of Chicago, said she made some mistakes in the qualifying round, in which she finished 37th, (7th woman), but she bounced back in the final – when it really mattered – to successfully defend her title and claim the handmade bicycle fame.
Christina said, "It's an incredible prize for the NACCC, I'm really excited about it. I'm going to build up a geared 'cross bike. It's going to be my ultimate dream bike: a 'cross bike that does everything I want."
About her performance during the two days of racing that comprise the championship, she said, "I made some mistakes on day one. There were parties to go to, and maybe I wasn't quite so well prepared for the race. But on day two I was better prepared. It went smoothly and it was a longer race, which I find usually goes better for me."
Christina's winning time in the final was 2:12:47
This is her fourth national championship, and she added a second women's victory to the outright win she took in 2009.

KVA Stainless MS2 (patented technology) bike tubes and Exogrid carbon technology. Having MS2 Stainless Steel and Carbon, combines the best attributes of advanced composites with those of stainless steel. Exogrid structures start with a base metal (such as stainless steel) structure that then has a major portion of the surface area removed through advanced machining techniques, such as laser machining.
The resulting lightweight metal shell is then fused (using the company's patented Bi/Fusion Technology) with an advanced composite inner structure molded during a secondary process using elevated temperature and pressure. Because of the characteristics of the different materials, multi-material Exogrid structures are lighter than their pure metal counterparts and have improved bending/torsion performance.
Multi-material Exogrid structures also possess unique vibration damping qualities due to the dissimilar natural frequencies of the fiber based composites and base metals. This vibration damping effect gives improved "feel" to bicycles frames and components when compared to the vibrations generated by single material metal surfaces.

This bike frame was fabricated with KVA's MS2 bike tubing using copper brazing. Our new bike tubes can be used for road bikes and mountain bikes. We plan on introducing new stainless steel fork blades in the very near future.
One of our European builders made a bike with our MS2 stainless steel tubing and made the following comments. "The bike felt more crisp and direct that I had anticipated. I was expecting a more softer ride, but instead it felt very responsive. This was particularly noticeable when standing on the pedals, the bike really sets of once you put the power on the pedals."

Frameset is the newish KVA Stainless Steel tube'd Thylacine Tephra XK. 1615g for the equivalent of about a 62cm frame is wicked to the point that this bike is a full pound lighter than my road bike.

Inspector Charlotte Cadden of Greater Manchester Police’s Bury Division is joined by council staff and fellw officers to promote a crackdown on the antisocial use of off road bikes in the town.
Inspector Cadden, who commands the Bury East Neighbourhood Policing Team, poses by one of the new signs going up around the town warning people of police powers to seize vehicles under section 59 of the Police Reform Act.
These signs will act as a warning to those misusing off road bikes that police officers may seize their vehicles without issuing prior warnings.
