This photo was submitted as part of the HooHaa52 Challenge. This week's topic was "My Town".
This seemed an appropriate picture. Today was the first time I took a group of students to a Science Olympiad competition as a Head Coach. This classroom at a community college became our "town" for the day.
1898, W. & G. Audsley. This distinctive building fits loosely within the Classical Revival movement of the day but has a bit of an Egyptian look. The AIA guide says, "'Eclectic' was invented for stylistic collections such as this." It housed the White Star Line offices in New York; Cunard was right next door. This was where the traveling public came to book passage.

UNICACH capacitación laboral *
Empleados administrativos participan en diplomado de INPROSEP Laura
Matus
Personal del Sindicato de Empleados Administrativos de la Universidad de
Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas (SEAUNICACH) participa en el diplomado
“Desarrollo de Habilidades en Computación Básica”, impartido por Denisse
Castañeda Vleeschower, instructora del Instituto de Profesionalización de
Servidores Públicos (INPROSEP).
Derivado de la colaboración conjunta pactada, personal de distintas áreas
de la comunidad universitaria ha participado en la capacitación que brinda
el INPROSEP, para “ampliar la currícula que manejan con el fin de impulsar
la mejora continua” de los servidores públicos, precisó la instructora.
En el diplomado “Desarrollo de Habilidades en Computación Básica”
participan 19 trabajadores del SEAUNICACH, quienes durante las sesiones
impartidas este mes y abril, adquirirán conocimientos para operar un equipo
de cómputo de manera eficaz y mejorar su desempeño laboral, aseguró.
Los docentes de las ingenierías de la UNICACH serán los próximos
beneficiados en materia de capacitación con el diplomado “Formación de
formadores”, que impartirá en fechas próximas personal del INPROSEP.

This is an abandoned office block on the site of the large factory in Cakemore Road. When it was used for manufacturing it went through various names of owners, hence the previous acronyms, but was world famous for such things as large electric motors.
It was one of the major employers in the town but the site is now mainly neglected. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackheath,_West_Midlands

On the more modern aerial photo in the article, this is the block you can pick out about a third of the way from the left of the photo, towards the front.
The Co-operative Group has built 1 Angel Square in Manchester as its new headquarters offices, and is due to open early in 2013. The 15 storey building will be the home to more than 3,000 employees working across the Group’s family of retailing and financial services businesses.
School Boards were set up under the Elementary Education Act of 1870. The firm of Martin and Chamberlain were appointed architects to the Board in 1870 and designed almost all of the 51 new schools built over the next 31 years. Many examples still exist.
They also designed these School Board Offices at 98 Edmund Street, just two doors down from Chamberlain's masterpiece, the School of Art. This building, although not as ornate as the School of Art, is still wonderfully decorative.

2017. gada 8.decembrī, atzīmējot Latvijas un Kazahstānas diplomātisko attiecību nodibināšanas 25.gadadienu, Latvijas vēstnieks Kazahstānā Jurijs Pogrebņaks uzstājās ar lekciju Eirāzijas Nacionālajā universitātē (L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University- ENU) Astanā. Lekciju apmeklēja ap 50 klausītāji - gan studenti, gan universitātes mācībspēki.
Sveicot ENU vice-rektoru Dr. Baubeku Somžureku (Baubek Ssomzhurek) diplomātisko attiecību nodibināšanas gada dienā, vēstnieks uzdāvināja universitātei 2 sējumu izdevumu “Latvijas dārgumi: labākie eksporta zīmoli un iedvesmojošie stāsti”.
Vēstnieks savā lekcijā sniedza ieskatu Latvijas vēsturē, ģeogrāfijā un kultūrā, kas ietekmēja Latvijas ārpolitikas veidošanas principus. Tāpat vēstnieks iepazīstināja ar mūsdienu Latvijas aktualitātēm, zinātnes un pētniecības sasniegumiem, kā arī kopīgajām lappusēm Latvijas un Kazahstānas attiecību vēsturē. Vienlaikus, ieskandinot Latvijas simtgades svinības, universitātes galvenajā ēkā tika atklāta izstāde “Latvijas sasniegumi 20. un 21. gadsimtā”, kas stāsta par Latvijas cilvēku izgudrojumiem, kas devuši pienesumu pasaules attīstībai un būs apskatāma Astanas sabiedrībai līdz 22.decembrim.
Latvijas Republikās un Kazahstānas Republikas diplomātiskās attiecības tika nodibinātas 1992.gada 10.decembrī.

This building of the German parliament was built between 1997 and 2001. It was designed by architect Stephan Braunfels. The building is named after Paul Löbe (1875-1967) a German politician and member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), who served as President of the Reichstag. In these towers are a number of rooms for committee meetings.
