Oystercatcher amongst a sea of Knot. Taken at the Snettisham Spectacular from the new hide on the far side of the lagoon - it has wonderful facilities for photographers to get low down (i.e. lying down) for an eye level shot. Twitchers can then sit on a bank of raised seating behind and still see what is going on, brilliant idea!

On Friday March 25th, it was decided to get some stored Metra equipment out of the city to better accommodate our track department as they embark on a tie project on the Elgin Sub this spring. One underutilized location is our Antioch Coach Yard, which with post-COVID schedules leaves us with some room to spare. Here's METX 11 pulling a dozen oldies north over the Fox Lake Sub diamond at Grayslake. The F40's are all older unrebuilt models that have ben pushed out of service since the coming of the Amtrak F59PHI's and were used primarily on the Union Pacific purchase of service lines.
I watched these two for 30 minutes. I was hoping they would take-off at the same time. Regrettably, they did not. the egret took off and the osprey left 10 seconds later. So, I made of a composite of the scene I was hoping to see.
Looking like a lighthouse, this building in the city can't possibly have been used as such, but I have no idea what it is ..
This spotted towhee was flirting with another in our yard. It flew from the fence to the tree, then down to this thing - it's an old hospital screen that my wife picked up when the hospital modernized. It's now used in our garden as a support - of plants in additional to these random birds!
Mr L bought me some lovely flowers in gorgeous autumn colours and nestled hidden in the middle was this pink Gerbera. Very pretty in its own right but clashing badly with the rest. So Miss odd one out got taken out and put in her own vase. Thanks for viewing and have a lovely Sunday 💕
The bronze boot is the odd one out among the yellow high heel shoes.
