my favourite tool for making black and white images is Snapseed: as well as being able to filter on any colour, it has lots of presets for monochrome styles, tools to manipulate grain, and more

New York wandering

The Oculus Transportation Center in NYC where the WTC was an is in its new form.

The skeletal roof of Calatrava's Oculus bears a strong resemblance to several of his later buildings including the transportation center in New York City.

the "great hall" connects the fulton transit center to the path station, many trade center buildings and brookfield place via underground tunnels.

Oculus - PATH Station in NYC. Lovely place that, depending on the hour, has entirely different shadows and composition. Unfortunately, limited colors but with shadows, that usually means you can get some great results desaturated.
