The flags and guidons of the Headquarters, U.S. Army Ordnance Center and Schools, Ordnance Mechanical Maintenance School and Ordnance Munitions and Electronics Maintenance School floated on an agreeable breeze as the Army’s largest corps presented a symbolic end to its 92-year stay at Aberdeen Proving Ground during its School Colors Casing ceremony at Ordnance Circle May 8, 2009.
With a host of former ordnance officers, warrant officers and noncommissioned officers in attendance, the Soldiers, Marines and Airmen of OMMS and OMEMS stood in respectful formation as Brig. Gen. Lynn A. Collyar, OC&S commander and chief of Ordnance, and OC&S Regimental Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel A. Eubanks cased the colors that will be unfurled at the Corp’s new home in Fort Lee, Va., later this summer. Read more...
Members of the Officer Candidate School Alumni Association visit the the Soldiers of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va., July 20th, 2016. During the visit a wreath was laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in celebration of the 75th Birthday of the Officer Candidate School. Iowa Interstate OCS came through as NS 956 on the Fort Wayne Line as it made their way to the U.S. Open in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Since this section of Norfolk Southern requires cab signals, they put NS 6976 on the front at Rockport Yard. I managed to catch it just as the sun started to rise over the trees at Creek road in New Waterford, Ohio. 11.June.2016
Capt. Bruce Parker, District of Columbia instructor, teaches Officer Candidate School combined class 52 how to calculate how much distance to add when transmitting a call for fire. Candidates had two primary blocks of instruction during Jan. IDT, Call for Fire and Military History.
Maj. Gen. James Adkins presented the awards earned during OCS to the officer candidates. The awards included - Physical Fitness, Academic Excellence, Peer Award, Honor Graduate and Distinguished Honor Graduate.
Officer Candidate George Barberena successfully completed the 3-mile run.
The platoon's task was to complete 12 laps around the track in 27 minutes for males or 29 minutes for females. Many candidates finished around 24 minutes and waited beside the track to cheer their classmates. In total, 15 of 17 finished within the prescribed time and completed the graduation requirement.
Class 053 conducted their second OCS Phase II drill October 14-16 at Camp Fretterd Military Reservation. Class 053 combines candidates from Maryland and the District of Columbia, working to earn commissions as Second Lieutenants in the Army National Guard.
