Invisible food... --Nutritious.

Few sights are more evocative of sweetness and sunshine quite like a cherry tree loaded down with ripe fruit ! And nowhere in Canada are cherries better than in the Okanagan Valley. Lakeside Orchards is one of the Okanagan's top growers. Located in East Kelowna, Lakeside ships widely and offers retail sales to lucky visitors. After I shot this photo, I loaded up with the Van cherry variety that was then ready. OMG they were sooooo good !

Packaging nutritious high yielding seed varieties in small quantities makes them affordable to smallholder farmers, especially women. Minipacks of improved seeds of crops like millet, sorghum, cowpea and groundnut are also being distributed via community health centres in Mali as part of an integrated training project to encourage better nutrition.

A child requires many things apart from nutritious food for good mental health.He/She needs unconditional love from loved ones, encouraging teachers, guidance, appreciation, positive environment and physical exercise. On World Mental Health Awareness Week, we at BSFC ensured that children are sensitised towards keeping a positive mindset. Teachers held sessions for Yoga and Meditation and children were taught the 'Power of Kindness'. We hope that these activities will help our little ones bloom into positive thinking adults!

The effect was manifested through declining of groundwater levels, drying of water wells and increased malfunctioning of water supply schemes. Nutritious! Breakfast

A massive deep freezer at the Sioux City Community School District central kitchen holds some of the nutritious ingredients used in meal preparation for the district's summer meal program.

Sioux City Community School District participates in the federally funded Summer Food Service Program administered by the Iowa Department of Education. The program provides nutritious meals to children who normally access meals at school during the academic year, but who might otherwise go without during the summer months. Available on weekdays at no cost to youth aged 1-18, the meals meet the same dietary guidelines as those served during the school year. Adults may also purchase a complete meal for $4.

In order to provide meal service at a variety of locations, the Sioux City school district has partnered with a number of local community organization sponsors including the Launch Pad Children’s Museum, Tyson Foods, churches, malls, city parks, schools, and community centers. Currently, meals are served at 27 different meal sites throughout Sioux City.

Last summer, the school district started a mobile operation called Food on the Fly which utilizes two renovated school buses to expand meal service to neighborhood parks such as the Leeds Splash Pad, Dale Street Park, Rosehill Park, Children’s Launch Pad, Cone Park Splash Pad, and to the Verizon Camp at Western Iowa Tech.

The district has offered summer meals for over 20 years and distributes over 2,100 combined breakfasts and lunches.

These Chickweed are edible tasty and nutritious. Often used in salads. The Japanese celebrate this little plant as one of the Seven Herbs of Winter and it's used in a traditional dish welcoming the return of Spring.

Named "Mouse-Eared" because some believe their leaves resemble mouse ears.

It must be quite an interesting job for the person who gets to name weeds.

8 August 2019, Njoben, Central River Region in The Gambia. One of the farmers that comes here with her young child on her back stands for a portrait. The FAO has been helping to expand the Farmer Field School in Njoben (Central River Region -CRR) since 2014, with funding from the EU. The field has been extended from one hectare to five hectares. Today, the various crops grown here: tomatoes, orange fleshed sweet potato, herbs, peppers, cassava, cabbage, okra, rice and many other nutritious foods are grown and consumed by more than 200 women and 14 men, and their families, from the local community. The surplus is sold, and this allows many of the families to improve their livelihoods and send their children to school. Another noteworthy improvement is the comprehensive borehole and water distribution system that has been established, thereby relieving almost 500 women farmers from the hardship of drawing water from the wells.

The community has been trained on gardening and helped agricultural extension workers to introduce more varieties of vegetables and apply climate smart agriculture. Similar support has been expanded to seven other community gardens throughout the country. This component is part of the “Post-crisis response to food and nutritious insecurity in The Gambia” (Project code: GM/FED/38780)

"When you review as many restaurants as I do, you consume your fair share of burgers, fries and pizza... Not exactly the building blocks of a healthy diet. In order to offset all that "naughtiness," I try my best to balance it with a nutritious shake to start every day (off right.) That means Greek yogurt, frozen berries, juice, water, ground flaxseed and something green. The latter is most important; and finding the best (easiest to swallow) greens is easier than you think. I use PINES' Green Duo powder (a combo of organic alfalfa and wheatgrass, available in capsules too.) Two teaspoons is all I use, and it literally adds only 20 calories to the mix.

"PINES Alfalfa packs a healthy (there's that word again) dose of vitamins A, C, E, and K4, as well as minerals calcium, potassium, phosphorous, and iron. Perhaps most importantly (for me) it helps prevent the absorption of cholesterol; and all you need to do is toss a teaspoon into a glass of your favorite juice, and you're done.

"It was also neat to try PINES Mighty Greens Superfood Blend, which adds hemp protein to my usual Green Duo mix. Hemp protein is a high-fiber (3 grams per serving) protein supplement that digests easily, without the cholesterol and fat found in meat. I found it to be the best tasting of the three (especially stirred into my daily glass of low-sodium V8) but it requires a full tablespoon, which can be a bit cost-deficient (a month's supply costs $37.50.) By comparison, a bottle of my Green Duo provides 81 1-teaspoon servings for 3 dollars less.

"Speaking of bottles, all PINES powders are packed inside oxygen-free amber glass bottles with special metal caps. That means more freshness/vitality than plastic containers (and longer expiration dates... over four years away.)"

is the McDonald's McDouble. These are the sorts of things I learn from Freakonomics. I also got fries and a soda, though doing so greatly decreases the healthiness of the meal.

A nursery caretaker waters Moringa plants as part of a Peace Corps volunteer’s (PCV) project. Moringa is a hardy, drought resistant tree, whose leaves are believed to be one of the world’s most nutritious sources. In a country where starch comprises the vast majority of diets, many Mozambicans struggle to achieve adequate vitamin intake, despite adequate caloric consumption. This is especially problematic for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), who need balanced nutrition for optimal ARV results.

The goal of this PCV project is to build four Moringa nurseries in communities around Inhambane Province, and to link them with a local business called Bio Oleos de Maxixe (BOM). To accomplish this, BOM identifies a local association of PLWHAs to be caretakers of each nursery, paying for and helping them build the nurseries, supplying the seeds and training for nursery management, and providing ongoing technical support. The PLWHA associations then grow Moringa for both consumption and income-generation. When the trees mature, BOM buys the seeds from the associations to press for oil for body products, which provides income for the families that steward the trees. In the interim, PLWHA and families enjoy the nutritional benefits of Moringa and participate in sustainable resource management.

the current ratios of milk to fortifier add 2 calories per ounce to his feedings. and when you're as small as eric those two calories make a big difference.

Women receive Caritas-funded beans, rice, and unimix (a nutritious powder made from soy and other foods) at a parish center near Marsabit, northern Kenya.

In summer 2011, after years of poor rains, this area of Kenya was devastated by drought. Wells dried up, huge numbers of livestock died, and people killed each other over vanishing grazing land and water. People grew weak from hunger and at least one child in this area died.

During the worst of the drought, Caritas distributed food, trucked in water, and brought hay for animals that remained alive. Although it started raining in mid-October 2011, it will take time for crops to grow and herds to restart, so Caritas continues to provide food to families that are especially vulnerable.
