Here is my sweet girl looking quite high with pain meds at the vet. We got to pick her up this morning. She did so good. She ended up having one tooth left.
The vet gave us her extracted teeth and they are so decayed. I think the total was 12 or 13 teeth pulled. Yikes.
Right now she is stowed away in the back bathroom in her little hidey-hole with all the amenities of home. She needs some time to rest and heal.

abby was adopted (by me!) from the oakville humane society in oakville, ontario, canada.
she came into the shelter as a stray. the guess is, she's between eight and ten years old. otherwise healthy on her arrival at the shelter, her teeth were so rotted and decayed, they were black and green and very stinky! they didn't even look like teeth anymore.
the shelter had the vet remove all of her teeth in two separate surgeries. she adjusted to the change very well, and is much happier not being in constant pain.
my guess is, her previous owner couldn't afford the vet cost to have her teeth looked at, so they dumped her. i guess they didn't realize there are options out there for people in their position.
anyway...she is that happiest, sweetest dog anyone could ask for! i certainly don't condone what her previous owner did, but i'm thankful that they were dumb enough to let her go so she could be a part of my life.
recycled pets are the best!

Samba had to get all his teeth removed due to an autoimmune disease. His "bites" are now these funny gummy things that tickle a little. It's pretty cute.
Not to worry about his lack of teeth, he's still a very normal and awesome cat!
