Mouse Theme Swap - (made for smilesalot7)
Hand drawn and hand painted with acrylic...I love a mouse in a bowtie! Hot air balloon is stamped, die cut, and adhered with dimensional foam for a 3D effect. Clouds are die cut. Book has a sturdy front and back cover with 30 total interior pages of blue, grey and pink paper. Book pages are bound in a hand sewn method using embroidery floss. Notebook is ATC size (2.5" X 3.5").
Day 305 - New Notebook
Today I went shopping with Oliver and Annika in Hamburg. Annika has a small netbook and wanted something bigger. Soon we made a find... and 2 minutes later there was not one more. Hihihi :)
Heute war ich mit Oliver und Annika in Hamburg einkaufen. Annika hat einen kleinen Netbook und wollte etwas größeres. Schnell wurden wir fündig... und 2 Minuten später gab es keinen einzigen mehr. Hihihi :)

This book is handmade and constructed vintage airmail onionskin pages. It has a lovely translucent quality. The book has more than 100 pages. The covers are decorated with hand-marbled paper from Columbia College Chicago which I purchased at the Printer's Row Book Fair. It has a brown and white stitched ribbon marker. I really love these books because not only are they handmade, they're handmade with limited, vintage materials.
The book measures 5.5" X 6.5" X .5"
I've named this book "Simone".
As I pass 2,000,000 views on my designs, I am happy that many have seen my work. Perhaps many share this subtle longing for nostalgia and it's particular aura that is still exciting. I do wish to mention one architect and poet, John Hejduk, who said that books are architecture, and I'd like to make a redundant statement here; writing is architectural. In a poetic sense, much is visual.
I am not buried in the past, but incorporate things with the modern world; It is the only way to move forward. This is not a unique idea. The work of many artists is rooted in the old masters of their craft. But I am concerned with the subtleties of the nostalgic, and less in technique. And in this kind of elusive dance, I hope to mark my own way.
I'm thinking about making some little notebooks, since I am always looking for one to make lists. This is my prototype.
Christmas is near and I've been thinking of how to show our customers what they can do with their stationery and how to enhance the moments. My perfect notebook is composed of a Moleskine soft cover 18 months diary, a blank Moleskine, Authentics' PenClip, an Italian 4 color ball point pen (though I wish it can be a roller ball pen) and a clasp from Japan. I displayed the combination 2 days ago in our gallery and put up a POP showing customer what's in the combination.
I also stamped "The Times" press logo using gold pigment ink on the cover of the soft-cover Moleskine which created a classic look on the perfect notebook. The stamp was actually a letterpress stamp I bought from London, originated from the Fleet Street where the press was situated years ago. Gee, I'm hooked on Stationery really :)

A notebook recovered from the clothing of Swedish third class passenger Mauritz Ådahl (30). His body was recovered by the MacKay Bennett and was buried at sea on 24th April 1912.
