He made a rare wrong turn, Churrie and Sandy made the Gee and he had to catch up to regain his loose lead. He's such a good boy.

Here's a shot of the North Pole Covered Bridge, taken at the opposite portal from the view in my previous photo. The bridge crosses Eagle Creek in Brown County, Ohio.

Sandy in her 13th year is officially retired from pulling sled, but she is still running along as a loose leader. She's quite impatient while I hook up the team dogs.

This was taken with the temperature at -20F (-29C), when we finished our run in the dark the temp had fallen to -27F (-33C).

Yes, her foot is cold, but quickly warmed when we began running, kind of the opposite of what occurred with my feet.

Ice near Billefjord, Svalbard

Svalbard is about midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. At this time of the year the sun get below the horizon, but it leaves a blue light for many hours thereafter. This picture is taken about 45 min drive away from Longyerbyen. Earlier that day the visibility was about 1 meter, but finally we could literally see the light.

North Pole, Alaska

This photo was taken right outside of my friend's sister's house in North Pole, Alaska, about 20 miles from Fairbanks.

I have always tried to get a shot of these quick butterflies. Even though they never seem to stay still long enough, I still try. I decided to walk back on the dirt road and found gathering of 25+ of these butterflies together. No water nearby. Just all together communicating. They didn't seem to mind me snapping away and remained where they were. I have seen this phenomenom once before many years ago while hiking. It reminded me of the Happiness is a butterfly quote. Since then, I do not seem to have any problem finding them staying still.

All the Arctic Ocean is endangered by the greed of powerful oil companies and states that want to see the polar ice melt for their commercial interests. All this beautiful wildlife will soon disappear.
