The thistle flowers are very pretty and attract butterflies and goldfinches - but they are very prickly in the hay - and the sheep don't eat them - so they have to be topped!

Landing the whelk catch

Shooting at night with available light. Colour balance is probably going to be a compromise between street lights and house lights. I've balanced for a realistic road surface colour and let the rest follow.

Lots of small cottages, bright colours and boutique shops.

Weather Vane

Another reminder of a very wet visit to the West Somerset Railway. Isn't this just the perfect weather vane for a heritage railway though? If you look carefully, you can just about spot the steam emerging from the funnel.

Haven't identified this one: but we don't eat it!

View from my homemade platform. It felt VERY precarious up there in the wind - especially when I had to stand up and use both hands on the fixings...

An afternoon at Lee Bay

The river Torridge shortly after shares its sea outlet with the river Taw. Waters from the rivers Okement and the river Taw, both of which start their journey not far apart on Dartmoor, join each other again before reaching the sea. How poetic...
