Followed by Northern Telecom, which was great until Nortel's fortunes went south, eventually.

Tis the way of all things...

Nepean Museum; Nepean; Ottawa, Ontario.

This is what I work on. This customer is especially clueless. We installed VoIP sets for 120 users at this site, and we installed a Windows 2003 server to provide DHCP (because he didn't have one) to allow the VoIP phones to acquire IP addresses dynamically. He now wants us to remove the DHCP server... He finally got the cable management looking nice (by comparison to what it was, trust me, this is nice looking).

I've located the picture in "my home town" rather than where it is physically located. Obviously, I cannot tell you where the customer is, but I still wanted to identify the photo as being taken in the Northern California area.

5.Too many customers per account manager in most Telco’s

It takes several (5+) years, endless training sessions and raw experience to have any real hope of understanding the technology in modern Voice and Data Networks. This means that most customers have to put up with unsuitably qualified, inexperienced account managers who are forced into reactive modes due to the high customer to account manager ratios.

Would you trust your business with an inexperienced Accountant or perhaps a 1st year Solicitor?

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard “we have an account manager, but we never hear from them and we can never raise them on the phone”.

The OLPC Learning Club DC Software Release Upgrade Party at Nortel Networks

appeared on a plastic bag covering electronical equipment manufactured by Nortel

I've got a Nortel i2002 "Voip" phone working with the asterisk system at work, using the UNISTIM channel driver. Pretty damn cool! Asterisk is amazing!

I'd read that Nortel never actually moved into New Southgate works/North London Business Park.

However here is their pre-Nortel (Northern Telecom) name on what i think is building 3.

Various Nortel phones for the DV-1. Not displayed but standard analog sets could be used.

From left to right:

Back: Chris vanderZwan, Anda Cosma, Walter Krumshyn, Jordan Pelletier, Michael Pelletier, Martin Scantland, John Anglin, Andy Dolgan, Essam Abu-Ohaibah

Front: Angie Raley, Howard Baker

More stuff. All brought with me from LA.

The Cisco 3002 just needs a dynamic IP (via a router or whatever) and it gets me on the corporate network. Needed so I can use my Nortel IP-Phone, which is actually the phone off my desk at work!

Old outdated model of a Bell Canada pay phone (broken) in Montreal on July 19, 2014. I think it is a Centurion model payphone manufactured by Northern Telecom / Nortel in the 1980s.

This one was on Saint-Jacques Street close to University St. in Montreal.

Came across a somewhat vintage payphone today. No LCD screen, volume buttons, credit card slot, etc on this one and it even says Nortel ( Northern Telecom ) on the coin return.

•How can I reduce my telephone bill?

This special report is focused on saving your company the money and pain of making a poor purchasing decision when it comes to telecommunications. And that certainly is great place to start. I want to help you plug the leaks so that you are not needlessly sending your hard earned profits over to your phone company.

However I really want to go one step further. What if your telecommunications could be a profit centre to your business rather than just an expense item? What if I could find ways and strategies of actually bringing in more business to you and adding extra profit to your bottom line?

Saving my clients’ money is something I really love to do. But being able to help my clients MAKE more sales and profit is what really ‘cranks my handle’ and gets me excited!

Northern Electric Centurion in Lamar Colorado. Had a weird pulsing dial tone. Suprised it HAD a dial tone! (I'm wondering if this phone has been retrofitted with a "smart board" or if it is still owned by the phone company)

4.You can have UNLIMITED calls to any Australian mobile, fixed Line and 13 numbers using Australia’s biggest premium Telco for a tiny $75 + GST per month.

Businesses spending $487 or more on usage per month can typically realise a 50 to 70% reduction in call costs. This potentially saves many businesses thousands every year. You can either put this in your pocket or put it towards improving the communications technology that your business depends on.

2.“Bundling” your telephone hardware with your ‘call spend’ cuts you out of massive savings.

Typically the Telco sales person gives a great spiel and tells you everything you wanted to hear.

i.e. “It’s Easy…Everything is on easy to read bill…you will save up to 16%... one easy monthly payment.”

Here’s the real FACTS;

Telco’s are primarily interested in your monthly call spend!

Telco call rates have consistently dropped annually over the past 10 years

A tiny discount (up to 16%) on “qualifying calls” to lock you into fixed prices for 3 – 5 years. (Think about it this way…would you lock in a fixed Mortgage rate in a falling interest rate market?)

In almost all cases the tiny Telco discount falls a long way short of off setting the cost of paying for the their re-branded phone system.

I typically show people how to pay for a new phone system from savings made on their monthly phone bill (for customers spending more than $497 per month on calls)

Introducing Greg Eicke

My name is Greg Eicke and I’ve been working at the leading edge of voice communications for the past 27 years. In that time I’ve found that most companies are interested in five things when it comes to their phone technology. Firstly, the most commonly asked question is “Do I really need a VoIP phone system?” closely followed by, “How to reduce the phone bill?” Well I bring great news for the business owner who is looking for impressive productivity increases and equally enjoyable cost savings.

7.“Special corporate call pricing contracts” do not offer the best available price for your business (regardless of business size).

A rate for local, a rate for national, a rate for inter capital cities, a rate for our own network, a rate for these mobiles, a rate for other mobiles, a rate for on net mobiles … This is all designed to make you feel like you’re important.... but how confusing!

The secret is that there are very simple ways to access significantly better than corporate rates for any size business.
