My wife thinks I should take more "normal" pictures and that I have gone a bit batty. So I decided that I would only soot normal things on a recent walkabout in Old City Philly and this is what happens.

Is it Acceptable Jewish practice to have dirt covered graves with a little marker laying on top as shown in the photo? Trash was strewn about and the entire cemetery was in disrepair...there were two cars next to the old house which served as the office...trash and debris was even on its porch.
I wandered thru two old Jewish cemeteries while out looking for photo ops today. Both dating to the late 1800's with one being the original Jewish cemetery serving the needs of Jewish pioneers to the area. One in fact, accepted 360 Jews who were originally buried in Chavez Ravine (Dodger Stadium) but were moved to East Los Angeles from 1902 -1910. At that time, this area was a major Jewish neighborhood.
This one, Beth Israel, is owned and operated by Chevra Kadisha Mortuary. they own a few other cemeteries. The one in this photo is still in use today with current burials still occurring.
Though old, I've never seen a cemetery in such disrepair...old tree trimmings piled on graves, broken concrete, grave markers fallen over, trash strewn, etc.
