After a very wet leadup to Christmas, it's great to finally get some normal winter conditions and be able to strap on the snowshoes. Hope everyone had a good weekend and the good folks to the south of us in the US are safe with the stormy weather they are having there.

It's Patriots' Day here in Massachusetts, which means two things around the Boston area: the running of the Boston Marathon and local commemorations and celebrations of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, where the first shots of the American Revolutionary War were fired on April 19, 1775 (referred to as the "shot heard 'round the world" in Emerson's famous "Concord Hymn").
One big part of these commemorations is to stage reenactments of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, and I attended several of these over the past few days and snapped a bunch of photos. This series contains some of the better photos from these events. It all put a real face on events that I had only read about in history books. I finally realized what an amazing thing it must have been that these groups of rag-tag farmers who had formed militias were able to rout some of King George's elite troops.
These photos represent a bit of a change of pace from my usual landscape, waterscape, and cityscape shots, but I had a lot of fun taking these photos and figuring out how to photograph what is essentially a "made up" event where the "old" things are mixed in with the modern.

Cuando el biotren recorría normalmente, y todo era una verdadera selva de locos, corriendo en contra del tiempo, apurados porque en cinco minutos mas tengo que estar en tal parte y una infinidades de situaciones del diario vivir.
después del terremoto, a algunos nos hizo reflexionar, a otros simplemente se dejaron influenciar, saco lo mas malo del ser humano, objeto de admiración en todo el mundo, de países desarrollados u otros con muy poca civilización, y que simplemente no podían creer que estaban viendo.
A veces pienso que este terremoto fue algo mentiroso, pero a la vez, pienso que a muchos nos sirvió, yo era parte de quienes corrían para llegar, y hoy, soy una persona mucho mas relajada, aprendí a valorar lo que tengo y lo que pude perder.
subi esta imagen, porque sin querer queriendo, fue a una semana antes del terremoto, y como en muchos días, el tiempo nos dio un aviso, fue helada esa jornada, muy nublada y porque ademas, sale el molino el globo, famosa por el producto "quaker" y desde que tengo conciencia de mi vida, e comido esos cereales, ademas de vivir a pocos metros de esta fabrica, ya que quedaba a muy pocos pasos de lo que fue alguna vez, un recinto estacion, y habia una linea hacia el molino que pasaba por donde nosotros jugabamos hace un tiempo atras.
Hoy ese molino esta en el suelo, ya no funciona, y nose que va a pasar de el, pero cuando lo vi, me dio mucha pena.
Esta fabrica pasaba algo desapersivido entre tanta casas y micros y hoy todos miramos como a quedado.

Lovely morning light but the forecast rain showers have already started.
The scene looks fairly normal, but the last of the operational blast furnaces will be shut down at the end of September 2024. Thousands of redundancies will happen and the plant will have to function from imported steel until a new electric arc furnace is built.
From being one of Europe's most modern and efficient steelworks to losing a reported £1 million pounds a day it is sad to see the decline of a works that has existed here for over a hundred years.

Ter voorbereiding van het pilootproject ETCS Level 2 zonder lichtseinen langs het spoor op conventionele lijnen organiseerde Infrabel zichtbaarheidstesten op de pilootlijnen 132 en 134 tussen Philippeville en Couvin. Om de borden te kunnen beoordelen in diverse omstandigheden (bv. mist) liep de testperiode gedurende 2 maanden, van 29 september tot 30 november 2025. Verschillende formaten en reflectiecoëfficiënten werden geprobeerd om na te gaan welke borden het beste visuele resultaat geven.
De testen gebeurden met NMBS-treinen die de normale treindienst verzekerden op de verbinding van Charleroi Central naar Couvin.
