It was mid-July, twilight had descended. Night was approaching, but still there would be no darkness. At this time of year, the Nordic night is merely a whisper of shadow, brief as a fleeting thought.

Iceland. This Nordic Tern photo was taken just before this Tern went down to his nest. I took this photo with my 80-200mm lens as the Terns were sitting just behind the road. A bit of distance should be taken as they will attack you once you come too close. As it was really a bit scary I took the decision to use a distance what was accepted by the Terns. (otherwise i risked a hole in my head I am affraid... :-) )

The Nordic Museum is the majestic castle that pops up the view when entering the Djurgården Island in Stockholm. The museum steals the scene whenever you are around it.

Friday and fence. Taken through a window fence to see other fences. Wishing you a happy weekend ❣️😊

"Once upon a time, there was a boy. He lived in a village that no longer exists, in a house that no longer exists, on the edge of a field that no longer exists, where everything was discovered, and everything was possible. A stick could be a sword, a pebble could be a diamond, a tree, a castle. Once upon a time, there was a boy who lived in a house across the field, from a girl who no longer exists. They made up a thousand games. She was queen and he was king. In the autumn light her hair shone like a crown. They collected the world in small handfuls, and when the sky grew dark, they parted with leaves in their hair.

Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering."

Mt. Bachelor is poised and ready for another epic ski and snowboarding season. A lot of snow needs to fall before it's scheduled opening day in three weeks, and so far the only nordic tracks to be found, are in the clouds.

Coloeus monedula monedula

(Nordic jackdaw / Grajilla occidental)

The western jackdaw is gregarious and vocal, living in small groups with a complex social structure in farmland, open woodland, on coastal cliffs, and in urban settings. An omnivorous and opportunistic feeder, it eats a wide variety of plant material and invertebrates, as well as food waste from urban areas.

There are four recognized subspecies of the western jackdaw. All European subspecies intergrade where their populations meet.

The Nordic jackdaw (C. m. monedula) (Linnaeus, 1758), is found in eastern Europe. Its range extends across Scandinavia, from southern Finland south to Esbjerg and Haderslev in Denmark, through eastern Germany and Poland, and south across eastern central Europe to the Carpathian Mountains and northwestern Romania, Vojvodina in northern Serbia, and Slovenia. It breeds in south-eastern Norway, southern Sweden, and northern and eastern Denmark. It has a pale nape and sides of the neck, a dark throat, and a light grey partial collar of variable extent.

A view over the water, and the Nordic Museum behind it. Pretty scenery, isn't it? You could check here if you want to see the museum's interior.
