Assemblage/ sculptural low relief.

In this piece I was looking at balancing vertical lines with gentle curved elements at 90 degrees to set up a visual oscillation and playing with painting some elements and leaving others to achieve the same effect.

As my painting project picked up steam a friend suggested that I do either a triptych or a "trio" of connected paintings. I loved his idea and the first "3" thing that came to mind was the three Fates of ancient Greek mythology.
Here is Clotho ( CLOTH-oh ): - She spins the thread that will make up the weave of events, fortunate and unfortunate, that forms the fabric of each person's life. No one gets the same weave as Clotho is perpetually creative and inventive.

An experiment in multiple controlled paint runs. 760mm by 570mm. I thought this would come out much more regimented given the systematic approach I used. Over time though the dribbles did not descend simply vertically under gravity but they followed in places the trails from previous runs, descending in zig zags and resolutely in places refusing to go where I wanted them to go. The effect of this though was to make the central area less covered resulting in the lighter feel. There are some interesting optical effects (an odd scintillating sensation) produced which were unintentional but welcome nontheless.

In anticipation of the events that will take place in the autumn and winter of this year, I think about the good and art anyway. You can enjoy beauty forever and ever. It's a gift got us from above. Why not use it, in this difficult and transitional time. Just relax and realize everything is fickle and fickle, but there are things that have existed before us and that will exist after us. And we are unknowingly part of them.

It was late. Deep night. I was alone, silence filled the space and thoughts of current affairs left me freely. Calmness and confidence in the future, for there is faith in my heart. And no matter what happened, I knew I was on the right track. Someone was helping me. He was somewhere very far away and very close.
Yes, there is still a lot to decide, to keep looking, because no one said it would be easy. But even these disparate thoughts couldn't upset the inner balance that I had been going to for so long. I was looking for a new composition, as always. Losing a thread of time, I suddenly noticed that the dawn was coming. The soft sunlight began to penetrate through the windows. It made the sky light. But the room was still lit with a night lamp.
A small collage/assemblage laid on board. 6.5 inches by 10 inches. Found objects, detritus etc.
David’s suggestion for a title works well in that it references the single hand written “N” in the piece but also alludes to the hand like form overall as suggested by Catharina. Thanks all.
That strange and unusual, almost forgotten state, the feeling, when traveling in labyrinths of consciousness, when your dreams pop up with bright pictures against a background of general grayness and external emptiness.
You're the creator, everything in your hands, you're the writer of the new series. Images, situations, time and place, you have the right to change everything in your own way. A logical question arises, is this a childish state of dreaming meaningless?
Year after year, we get older and our dreams become more practical and meaningful. There will be no more of that naivety. But having reached a certain stage, we realize that we have didn't go far from our original state. And it helps us to create our own world, because in fact, when we dream, we're getting closer to our goals.
I have been meaning to do something with a collection of beer mats that I bought. This is how it turned out. It is not exactly as I imagined initially. I have come to understand increasingly that art is less like design where one mostly plans things and thinks things through very carefully in order to achieve a specific goal but is more like Science where one explores, investigates and discovers things that one didn't necessarily start out to look for.
I am not sure about the background it is mounted on but these were pieces of card that were used as dividers in the collection of beer mats to separate out little groupings. It made sense to include these in the piece and I quite liked the faded nature of the obviously old cardboard used.
