The Adventure
The Neko clan had lost its war against the Kitsune.
The proud cats had failed to overcome the mysterious foxes in battle, and every failure has a cost.
Being born the second child, it was now Honni’s duty to save their clan.
They were to become a gift to the son of the Kitsune clan’s leader.
A pretty little gift to hopefully pay for all the bloodshed between the two factions.
Honni’s heart quickened at the thought, filled with dread, tears streaming down their face as the attendants dressed them. They were dressed in white shear cloth, lilies wove into their hair, and gold chains glittered on their body.
They expected to find their new owner to be as cold, hardened, and merciless as the stories had mentioned. Many of the Neko Clan’s best soldiers lost their lives to this man.
Instead, before the young cat stood a man with gentle eyes and compassion in their soft smile.
Later that evening, after the celebration of the spoils of war had died down, Honni was lead to space away from others. There the fox whispered kind things in their ear, easing the cat’s fears.
A soft kiss, exchanged between fox and cat, ended a war.

So, I've been told I have way too many clothes, and some of them have to go. Which is true. So the other week I spent some hours going through my wardrobe, suitcases and assorted bags, trying to be as ruthless as I could. Which probably wasn't ruthless enough.
One of the items I thought I'd get rid of is this flowery skirt, which I've had for years, and rarely worn. But... before it went to the purge pile, I thought I'd try it on. And, then realised, yes, I could probably make it work. So here you are.

Another January 1st, another attempt at taking a photograph every day for an entire year.
My first photo of 2022 was the piece, New Year, Same Pandemic. The photo was taken less than two hours after my partner and I officially got together so I decided I wanted to make it a tradition. Still thinking about the safety of celebration in a socially distanced world, so this year's party for two took place in our apartment bathroom. It's insane how last year's title reigns true, we both got COVID from a funeral just two weeks ago. Continue to mask where people gather and get your vaccinations when they are available. (In the U.S. the most recent booster became available for adults in September of 2022)
I last completed a daily photo challenge in 2016 while still in high school. I have made a couple of attempts to complete a second year since but I haven't been committed enough to the project or fulfilled enough by the practice to finish. My most recent attempt in 2022 was enjoyable but not taking place at an easy time in my life, so I am excited to give it a go this year.
