Gospel recording artists, Grammy award nominated artists and multiple Stellar Award winners performed for the Camp Darby community Sept. 27 during the U.S. Army Entertainment “Lift up Your Spirits” tour.

Spensha Baker, a 16 year-old sensation whose father is a Sgt. Maj. in the U.S. Army, opened up the evening with powerful vocals and moving lyrics. The best selling gospel trio of all time, Trin-I-Tee 5:7 continued to wow the crowd, but it was Deitrick and Damita Haddon that really got the crowd on their feet dancing and praising the Lord.

I nominate Tie-Dyeversity for a March OTM. For the month of March, Lantana Hall put on events for Women's History Month to commemorate and celebrate womanhood. At Tie-Dyeversity, residents were given a t-shirt and rubber bands and instructed on how to tie the t-shirt to create certain designs. RA Clayton, the MC, then read statements such as, "Dip your shirt in RED if you have ever been called fat," or, "Dip your shirt in PINK if you've had a female loved one suffer from cancer"--statements regarding adversity as women. As residents stepped towards the middle, they were able to see that they were often joined by other residents who've shared these experiences. Residents cheered for one another and shared stories about their experiences. About 40 people were in attendance, and residents continue to talk about how awesome the event was. When they wear their tie-dye shirts, other residents will notice and talk about it. I am super proud of the s taff for coming together and putting on this tremendous event!
