This was one of the rarest sights of my life. Lord Buddha was passing through the tiny channel in Rangamati Lake. His procession was musical with the sounds of splashing water & enchanted prayers. The gusty wind bringing the hint of rain and in the distance the black pile of falling clouds carried the eminent sign of it. There was a glow in the sky; there was a glow on the river which simply made me spellbound. I was watching it from the edge of a small hill. The golden statue of Lord Buddha sitting infront of the procession was carrying the lead. Devotees were excitingly following the Buddha’s boat as he will be placed in a newly built temple.

With the realization that there was more to life than the lavish and luxurious life he was leading, Prince Siddharth Gautam, who was born in the southern Terai region of Nepal in about 543 BC, left his palace in search for enlightenment and the true meaning of life. He attained enlightenment while meditating under a pipal tree. He began to preach "The Four Noble Truths" to all who would listen. According to this doctrine,

“Existence is suffering,

Cause of suffering is desire”.

Buddha traveled far and wide teaching hundreds of followers. Even after death his disciples continued to spread his teachings and I saw his calm bright figure passing right pass me. For a brief moment I was oblivion to pain, worry, and the external world. It was almost like finding my nirvana.

Magha Puja Day in 2012 at Dhammakaya Temple, Pathumthani, Thailand

Māgha Pūjā day marks the four auspicious occasions, which happened nine months after the Enlightenment of the Buddha at Veḷuvana Bamboo Grove, near Rājagaha in Northern India. On that occasion, as recorded in the commentary to the Mahāsamayasutta, DN-Comm 20) four marvellous events occurred:

There were 1,250 Arahata, that came to see the Buddha that evening without any schedule.

All of them were Arhantas, the Enlightened One, and all of them were ordained by the Buddha himself.

The Buddha gave those Arhantas principles of the Buddhism, called "The ovadhapatimokha". Those principles are: - To cease from all evil,- To do what is good,- To cleanse one's mind;

it was the full-moon day.

The Buddha gave an important teaching to the assembled monks on that day 2,500 years ago called the 'Ovādapātimokha'[1] which laid down the principles of the Buddhist teachings. In Thailand, this teaching has been dubbed the 'Heart of Buddhism'.

Took this a couple of days ago during a scouting mission to find some new locations.

This is a lovely little area near Nelson Bay NSW.

Conditions were perfect - no wind, fluffy clouds on a nice blue sky and incredibly clean blue water over a sandy bottom.

I can see the new beta flickr shows this off to full advantage - enjoy!!

Will you take me to Nirvana?

The Nirvana Coffee Shop in Barnstable Village is a great place to pick up a latte on a Saturday afternoon while running errands. The mother of my closest childhood friend lives diagonally across the street from here. She's gone to Boca for the winter. :-(

The third photo from my trip to the Borobudur Temple. It was very cool to hang out with someone you admire and with more experienced from you. In this case, it was Elia and Naomi Locardi from blame the monkey.

I was able to learn a few tips and tricks from the man himself. And he was kind enough to share many of his story from his location independent lifestyle.

This photo is a manual digital blending from 2 frames. One for the sky and the other one is for the foreground, processed in LR 5, combined in Photoshop CC and finished using Nik Software enhancement.

Another thing that i learnt is shooting using f22 brought out all the dust spot on my sensor!

Went to the local COSTCO's where they had senior hours where us older people had two hours before the youngins are allowed in and found this near magical abundance of butt tissue.

Nirvana - All Apologies

Lately I can't get this song out of my head. I'll be in class and it'll just randomly pop into my head and I just love it so much. It just makes so much sense to me right now.

Cut up an old tee with Nirvana and made a sweater with Kurt. Have Dave and Krist cut out as well.

A young (only 17 years old) monk's smile reflected in the ancient carvings of the Bayon, Angkor Thom, part of the world heritage Angkor Wat temple complex in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Behind him is One of 216 faces that watch over the temple.

A translation of King Jayavarman VII`s mystic Buddhist beliefs, Bayon is a spiritual experience. From each of the survivng towers the enlightened grin of the Boddhisattva Avalokitesvara, compassion radiates out in the four cardinal directions. Carved in the likeness of the King himself (his portrait is known from other sculptures found elsewhere in Cambodia and Thailand), these enigmatically smiling faces portray the King as god, symbolizing his omnipresence and omnipotence.
