When you get a glow of light behind an object it's called a nimbus, and I've always been fascinated by them, whether or not I'm shooting. The light has a kind of ethereal quality to it.
In this instance, the glow pretty much reduces the crane to a silhouette and the overall light of the sky reduces both the colour and detail of the buildings, so we get a kind of pale, naturally desaturated look to the scene. I love it. I tried bringing up the light levels on the buildings, but it didn't work, so I pretty much left them alone, as also the curves of the footbridge in the foreground.
Night is when,
she spreads her wings.
Navigating beams,
the moonlight brings.

as nimbly she flies.
Full name - Cumulonimbus, as he reminds me of those fluffy rain clouds.
He is quite small at 4.5 inches and fully cotter pin jointed (all metal joints). He is made of Medium to Long curly Batik mohair and has German glass eyes and a hand stitched perle thread nose.
easy peasy, used the clover pompom maker. My friends P thinks tassles and pompoms are a waste of yarn and a waste of space, but they just sortof finished up the design
