Stone torii of 1618 at the front approach to the Toshogu 東照宮 shrine. The Kyushu granite pillars have a shock-absorbing join and the transom is in three sections, all successfully providing earthquake resistance. Designated an Important Cultural Property, within a huge World Heritage Site. Nikko, Tochigi-ken, Japan.

These were growing along the road to the Kegon Falls viewpoint, Nikko, Japan.

There were many of these plants growing on a nearby hillside.

Primula denticulata (drumstick primrose) is a species of flowering plant in the family Primulaceae, native to moist alpine regions of Asia.

I came across many plants growing wild in Japan that are much valued nursery plants in the Vancouver area.
