Some people are like a port in the storm. I think you're the brewing storm I'm witnessing from a port, rather. Sir Walter Raleigh was responsible for bringing tobacco back to England from the colonies. John Lennon was addicted to tobacco. I have been there. It isn't the quitting that is difficult. Anyone can find a reason to quit and make that decision. The difficulty is in remaining strong and committed for the rest of your life. Nicotine does something permanent to your body's chemistry. Your body remembers. No matter how many years you tell yourself the smell of smoke is disgusting, your body quietly craves it. All it takes is an emotional crisis and a momentary lapse in judgement. Boom, you're a smoker again. And it is loathsome.
On a brighter note, tobacco is one of many plants that can be used to make excellent organic insecticides to spray on other plants in your garden to eliminate and/or repel a lot of garden pests. Other natural insecticides can be derived from Neem Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Cloves, certain Chrysanthemums, Cayenne Peppers, and even Geraniums - to name a few.

smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system. Also dieting on New Year's Day isn't a good idea as you can't eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second :-)

Nicotine is an incredibly addictive drug found in products such as cigarettes, chewing tobacco, and e-cigarettes. And while nicotine addiction is a problem for adults, teens are even more vulnerable as nicotine harms the brain development of teenagers.
Nicotine Anonymous (NicA) is a twelve-step program for people desiring to quit smoking and live nicotine free. As of May 2008, there are 600 meetings in thirty-eight countries worldwide with the overwhelming majority of these meetings occurring in the United States, followed by Canada, Brazil, Australia and the UK, respectively. NicA maintains that total abstinence from nicotine is necessary for recovery. NicA defines abstinence as "a state that begins when all use of nicotine ceases." - Wikipedia

A well known killer and still close to the hearts of many and their daily routines. As an ex-smoker I wouldn't criticise those that still smoke as, to be honest, I still miss it sometimes!!

Here's a couple of mongooses I photographed at a zoo in Copenhagen and they were enjoying a cuddle. Mongooses have long faces and bodies, small, rounded ears, short legs, and long, tapering tails. Most are brindled or grizzly; a few have strongly marked coats which bear a striking resemblance to mustelids. Their nonretractile claws are used primarily for digging. Mongooses, much like goats, have narrow, ovular pupils. Most species have a large anal scent gland, used for territorial marking and signaling reproductive status. The dental formula of mongooses is . They range from 24 to 58 cm (9.4 to 22.8 in) in head-to-body length, excluding the tail. In weight, they range from 320 g (11 oz) to 5 kg (11 lb). Mongooses are one of at least four known mammalian taxa with mutations in the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor that protect against snake venom. Their modified receptors prevent the snake venom α-neurotoxin from binding.

I have gone ahead with my photo data recovery at a now agreed price that means I will need to sell some photography gear to cover the cost. It is what it is and I shouldn't need to sell anything that I use regularly.
Thank you all so much for your care and support. I have been vocal about this challenge because I want to remind everyone how important it is to backup our precious data.
I don't use online backup services because I have been stung with extortionately rising costs in the past and still trust HDD for longer term storage. I must remember that they have a shelf life too!

In corona isolation and with severe nicotine abstinence, it happens that images can be (miss) and roughly processed in Photoshop. But boy... its fun....
The full rig Sørlandet is the world's oldest operating full rig. The ship was built in 1927 and was a former school ship that was originally run by the Sørlandets Sailing School Ship Institution (today Sørlandet's maritime secondary school). The ship was built to be used for basic training of seafarers. Today, the ship runs its own high school specialization.
