Art Walk Started in 2008 by the Gallery Owners of the time. This event is held on the first Friday of every month. Downtown Fort Myers has always been known for art and history. Life has been difficult for the event as the Great Recession made if hard for an artist to sell anything. But, just like every good machine, the event is doing its job for the local business in the area. Creating a buzz for the growing city of Fort Myers.

The Mullan Road was the result of John Mullan's tireless efforts to complete a military route linking Fort Benton to Fort Walla Walla and served as the primary, if rudimentary, transportation corridor for early military mining, commercial and settlement interests in the region over an extended period until surpassed by the rail networks. Few such well-defined remnants of the Mullen Road have been identified. Taken together, the road corridor and the adjacent railroad corridor offer a unique picture of evolving transportation development in the region.

Music walk is a special event held in downtown Fort Myers every month on the 3rd Friday. This is an amazing event to watch and listen to the local talent, much like art walk but for the ears. Stop in and grab a slice of pizza and watch one of the bands perform. If that’s not your style, you have many different food options all including outside seating. The street is closed off from both ends allowing for the swarm of pedestrians and bands to occupy the open space. Normally the shops on the street will have special hours for this event as it runs from 6-10pm. Admission is free although bringing a few extra dollars for the performing bands is always appreciated.
The Alembic's sidwalk chalkboard usually features some sort of crotchety, old-school, cocktailian slogan as a warning to any jack-and-coke or jager shot-ordering yahoos who might happen by. Most Californians would instantly recognize this one as a clever riff on the ubiquitous Proposition 65 "known to the State of California to cause cancer" signs. I actually think it would have been even better if they had said "gin" instead of "vermouth," given the average person's ignorance of anything other than vodka-based martinis these days.

The Manatee park is a fantastic little park in Southwest Florida. The Manatees find refuge at this park on cold days because of the powerplant located on highway 80. The park also has many other attractions like a short boardwalk, playground, tiki hut, and gift shop. This park will not allow dogs on the premises so, leave the puppies at home.
