It's really hard to imagine, standing there in May, looking out across the field where Pickett's Charge took place during the Battle of Gettysburg. Where I stand, taking this photo, was the Confederate side, where young men were being commanded to perform a last ditch effort by running straight across this field to the Union line which stood where those first trees are. It was hot this day in May; meanwhile the battle took place in the beginning of July. I try to imagine standing in hot cotton confederate uniforms, being told to run with clunky muskets, towards a line of Union troops standing still, ready to fire. Only a few Confederates made it past the Union line where they were either shot or they surrendered. Man... I would have been a terrible soldier. If Pickett told me to charge across this HUGE expanse, I would have deserted. © 2010-Current.
This was by far the most difficult waterfall to get to, but was definitely one of the more fun ones despite the challenge! I had to trek across the water 6 times and lucked out with dead trees in the water! So very thankful I didn't fall in! 😁

Two adolescent male elephant seals duke it out in the gentle surf of the California coast. Although none of them are actually sparring for mates and weren't hurting each other too badly, some of them were still pretty torn up looking from constant nips and bites. © 2011-Current.
