66091 descends down after a break in the summit sidings which allowed passenger services to pass. Seconds later a rouge class 390 passes which could’ve ruined the shot!

Following the final passenger train out of Liverpool Lime Street along the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, Class 37 loco 37612 leads the 1Q18 Track Recording Coach Test Train from Crewe LNWR through Huyton station, with fellow loco 37610 tailing the rear

6C26 from Basford Hall crept down the coast under the cover of darkness last night, sat around alongside the worksite at Rhyl East Junction presumably whilst spent ballast was loaded at the other end of the train, then assumed position in platform one.
Taking it easy whilst the Orange Army do their stuff is 56090, down the other end, out of sight, is 70809.
Above the loco is just the merest hint of a rainbow, sign enough of yet another wet weekend in Rhyl.

Having set off on Friday night as the 3Q17 2321 Crewe HS - Derby RTC , 97304 arrives at Derby on a Saturday morning .

Here we see 97304 (front) and 97303 (rear) working 1Z49 from Coleham to Derby RTC on the morning of the 4/4/21. Unfortunately despite the full sunshine forecast, the sun was partially lost to a cloud as the test train approached, which was captured in Findern near Stenson Junction.

42251 brings up the rear of 1Z23 06:45 Bristol Kingsland Road-Derby RTC as it approaches Parson Street on 20/04/2023.
Running 34 minutes late at that point, three and a half hours would pass before it returned from the Portbury branch. It subsequently missed out the scheduled Newport leg of the journey, heading to Didcot and returning to Derby via Bristol Parkway.

The Networkrail Test Train comes through Dumfries working from Ayr to Carlisle with Colas Power car 43257 leading. In September the footbridge is due to be dismantled and replaced by a new bridge complete with lifts to conform with disabilitiy access requirments.A temporary bridge will be put up to the South end of the station.Historic Scotland are not very happy because it is grade B listed so a meeting will be held somtime soon in the town to see what can be done.
37254 “Cardiff Canton” seen at Newcastle Central working the 1Q18 PLPR1/Mentor, from Mossend to Mossend via South Hilton.
37421 was on the rear.
156440 Departs Barrow In Furness with the 1N31 1113 Barrow-in-Furness to Preston, Northern service. The service was timetabled to travel to Blackpool North but was cancelled at Preston due to bad weather.

On a drizzly misty morning the 1Q68 0158 Doncaster CHS - Derby RTC passes a deserted Doncaster I- Port whilst joining the single section of the South Yorkshire Joint , 37175 leads with 37418 on the rear .

Colas 37099 Merl Evans 1947 - 2016 poses under a magnificent sky in Norwich with the Network Rail Ultrasonic Test Unit. The Type 3 had propelled the set, with DBSO 9703 leading, as 3Q71 2254 London Kings Cross to Norwich Goods Yard on 12th April; however, the working on 13th, 3Q69 2124 Norwich Goods Yard to Norwich Goods Yard, was cancelled due to a problem with the brakes.
Sculpture outside the Said Business School just next to the closed Botley Rd Railway Bridge, the bridge was originally closed in Spring 2023 and due to open in 2024, latest proposed date of opening is "August" 2026 ( one presumes 31st) although given Network Rails inability to stick to any date and our councils enthusiasm for the "temporary" congestion charges it blames on the closure no-one in Oxford expects this date to be met.

The picture was taken on the 130th anniversary of the Forth Bridge, which was officially opened on the 4th March 1890. For a short period before the construction of the bridge (and for a period in the 1920s), passenger trains ran down into South Queensferry itself and this picture was taken from the old railway line which has now been converted into a footpath and cycleway. Some foliage has recently been cleared allowing the return of a good viewpoint. The Fife village of North Queensferry at the other landfall of the bridge is visible on the left.
37116 was 30 minutes late leaving Plymouth with the 3Q50 2302 Exeter Riverside to Penzance via St Ives. She was booked for a 90 min layover at Penzance which she did not take and headed straight out along the St Ives branch. She passed Lelant on the outward journey 60 mins early and even though i was in position it was too dark for my X-T2 to bag a shot so i used my iphone which managed to get me a half decent shot. She wasn't due back at Lelant for an hour giving plenty of time for the sun to come up and shed some light on the situation. The forecasted fog had not materialised at my location but pretty much everywhere else along the north coast was shrouded in mist.
This shot was taken on the return leg off the branch at 0540 having gained an additional 20 mins between Lelant -St Ives and Lelant but i had just enough light to bag this shot.
I had made the effort to get up early and travel down as this could be the last time we see this train with a 37 working it along here. The planned replacement HST power cars are ready and could be taking over these duties imminently.

In pouring rain Colas 37254 arrives at Manningtree with the Networkrail test train to Harwich. It stood here for a few minutes to wait for a path onto the branch. ROG 37611 stands in the down sidings.
Having already climbed up from Sheffield Midland via Nunnery Jct , 97301 continues climbing through Woodburn Jct with load 8 of the 3Z10 0812 Derby RTC - High Marnham.

The NetworkRail track recording train speeds past Farncombe in lovely late afternoon light with 73964 leading (73961 on the rear). The train was running as 1Q52 1043 Eastleigh to Derby via the South Coast and other Southern watering holes before returning to Derby after this run down the Pompey Direct.
Having been held in the loop at Elford Freightliner Class 70 locomotive 70007 continues on its journey to Walsall freight terminal with cement tankers from Hope (Earles Sidings).
Freightliner Class 66 diesel locomotive 66623 "Lest We Forget" powers through Willington station working 6H45 Banbury Reservoir Aggregates to Tunstead Sidings.
In the early evening sunshine GBRF Class 66 locomotives 66714 "Cromer Lifeboat" and 66749 "Christopher Hopcroft CBE" lead a Toton North Yard to Bescot Up Engineers sidings working and is seen passing Wichnor.
East Midlands Railway Class 158 Express Sprinter DMU 158773, in aubergine and cream livery with Pride vinyls, and 158889, in Stagecoach livery, approach Chesterfield working 1L08 08.51 Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich via Nottingham.
