Years ago, when I still lived in Merrick, my dad was a nerd for Halloween...and I found the glasses he used. I'm not a nerd...more like a geek who's seen every Star Wars movie, is obsessed with a certain cartoon, listens to a lot of music, and likes superheros.

Thanks so much to the organizers, volunteers and sponsors of Nerd Camp this year! I had an amazing time and it was wonderful catching up with old friends and making new ones. These are some of the photos I took during the event, mainly of people I met rather than the talks (I often had trouble getting into the latter since the rooms were often super-packed, so I left it to others to take better pics :-).

You remember that kid in class who always did just that much more than the teacher required, then pointed it out to be sure to get extra credit? Today, I was that kid.
But I was so thrilled that I'm finally getting the hang of clipping and moving elements into layers that I had to take it all beyond the requirements of the assignment. We were supposed to make a layered collage with various photo elements the professor gave us. I took it a step further by building it on the background of my Sonoma sunset and adding Lucy into the picture.

Nerd is a two month old Male Labrador Retriever Mix.
Today I volunteered at PAWS Atlanta. I took photos of some of the dogs that need homes. I thought I'd also remind people you can find great pets at shelters and in rescue groups. And of course, help control the pet population, please spay and neuter your pets!!
