When I was first learning to be a web geek (way back in 2005 ;-), I bought a lot of nerd books. I would stay up late into the night reading about code and writing code and saying f&%k to the computer screen when my code didn't work. And then trying again until I didn't need to say f&$k for my code to work (there are actually times of the night when that seems like a viable way to make your code work).
Nerd books are great for learning new things about your chosen craft. But web-nerd books get outdated pretty quickly these days. So I've mostly stopped buying nerd books. In the last couple of years, however, two companies have started printing nerd books that are short, concise and beautifully designed. So eventually, I will be down to just this stack of pretty nerd books. These are my favorites.

I'm just practicing group pictures, and thought that sorting dollies by themes would be nice.
So here are the three nerds:
JD (Leeke Luke/SDF) - robotics (mostly self taught)
Casey (CH Hyun/nYID) - sociology (working on her BA)
Blair (IH Bibiane boy/DF-H) - anthropology (working on his PhD; and no, Rubik's cube is not his strength, the toy is actually JD's)
Sprites drawn on paper (circa end of the 80's). Some were copied from the TV screen from other games, others created by myself.
Most have the corresponding decimal/hex written on the page to be later used with source code.
Blogged on jantielens.wordpress.com/2007/08/12/sexy-legs-in-bokrijk/
Today we visited the open air museum of Bokrijk(think old buildings rebuilt in their original condition). Conditions were not perfect to take pictures of the houses, churches etc (bad light in the middle of the day), so I mainly shot my little daughter. Although I couldn't resist taking a picture of the legs displayed above! :-) This guy should check the Top 10 Fashion Suggestions for Nerds.
...and maybe a certain Jordan Voth in the corner.
This was grainy so I made it even grainier. Whateva.

I'm such a mess : P

Just happened to pass by here yesterday and ran into this guy, James C., aka NERD working the wall in Logan Square.

Revenge of the Nerds (1984). At a big campus, a group of bullied outcasts and misfits resolve to fight back for their peace and self respect. Starring Robert Carradine, Anthony Edwards, Julia Montgomery, Curtis Armstrong, John Goodman
Okay, I didn't want to REALLY have things in focus OR show what a disaster area my desk is, but you can see that I AM a total nerd, running two monitors- I'd be running 3 if I had the space on the table right now, but there is also a scanner, a digital turntable, a printer, as well as the other things I find "necessary" to run our small network! :)
I do a little email and check Flickr while Ken gets ready for bed.

Shots done for the Jules' Photo Challenge Group- per the challenge:
The June challenge is to tell the rest of the group the story of a day in your life. You can pick any day this month-what ever works best for you as long as all your pictures are posted by the end of the month. You're probably wondering just how this is going to work, right? Well, let me tell you. :)
On the day of your choosing, you are going to take one picture every hour that you are awake (from the time you get out of bed in the morning until you go back to sleep that night) The pictures do not need to be taken right on the hour, just within that hour. They all do not need to be taken with the same camera or even by you. (Yes, you can get help for this one.) HOWEVER, if you are not the one behind the lens you better be the one in front of it! (You know what I mean!) Use your collection of pictures to show and/or tell us what you did throughout your day.
