Sculpt progress on the Protomorph (Alien: Covenant) and the Praetorian Egg Morpher (Alien: Defiance).All 1:18 scale.
Sculpting the torso of the Protomorph - The flesh just beneath the exoskeleton (rib cage) seems to have the textured pattern of lung tissue...or an alien version of it. The next step will be the rib cage itself. Will feature three variant head sculpts - two seen here. All a work in progress.
As for the Praetorian, i've sculpted some tendon details around the mouth of the "attack" version of the head sculpt. It will have an internal mouth included once complete. The upper torso will be a sculpted replica of the 79 ALIEN torso - just larger in scale. A work in progress.

For what time I had this weekend I was able to sculpt most of the exoskeleton of the upper body. Still have the back and spine to complete. The abdomen will be separated into two pieces similar to how Revoltech engineered their alien figures. In fact, I've cast several copies of the revoltech abdomen, dremeled them down and will sculpt over the frames. I've already used this technique with the Spitter alien and it looks to work fine.
As for the Praetorian, I am sculpting the Big Chap (79 Alien) all over again, just in a larger scale. Began with the shoulders and will move onto the upper chest this week. As far as the tendons on the mouth...I'm thinking of going back and removing the clay sculpt and add clear hot glue after painting the creature. The effect worked wonderfully with various versions of my 79 beastie...

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT from Aves Studio LLC
Forgive the skinny arms and clay spots holding everything together LOL! Using some wax clay to bring in all the parts to show how the figure is coming along. The arm frames are prior castings of the 79 Alien along with acrylic rods to make the appendages longer - the length of the creature's limbs are to be exaggerated just bit. In my opinion the elongated limbs brings with it that "creep" factor. The next step will be to sculpt the arms and begin work on the tail...which will conatin a good amount of detail.

Sculpt progress on the Neomorph - ALIEN: Covenant - 1:18 scale. Had some time to begin sculpting over a frame I created last week. Reduced it a bit, then scored the surface with some rough sandpaper so the new layers of FIXIT will have a better adhesion (it already does but it's just a thing with me LOL). The initial sculpt will have the mouth opened (attack). I feel by doing this, the variants will be easier to create from a sculpting point of view. A little rough right now where patches of the surface are still exposed but expect it to smooth out with future updates. Began working on the upper torso of the figure, exaggerating the dept of the ribcage a bit so a thinner application of FIXIT can be added once cured. Need to add detail to the back and create the "spikes" that protrude.

The Neomorph - Alien: Covenant - 1:18 scale. Again, the head sculpt comes first. I plan on doing several versions of the head sculpt, including versions that originate from Prometheus concept work. Again, articulation will be important with this aggressive beast. I will be concentration on sculpting the adult version of the Neomorph - at this time I have no interest in doing a "baby" version of the monster unless I happen to sculpt a "backbuster" down the road.
The Xenomorph - Alien: Covenant - 1:18 scale. Began working on the skull of the beast using as many reference images as I could find. The head and the neck will be sculpted seperately for articulation purposes. Unlike the Big Chap 79, this creature will have a much larger range of articulation so it won't be as "humanly elegant" so to speak..even though it was born from a human host (scratches head). I love the design with the beast striped of it's biomechanics and given a slender yet aggressive look. A great interpretation of the Giger's masterwork.

One of the most likes photos in my instagram recently; not because it's Alien, but because the head of the xeno looks phallic (to put it kindly). Since these monsters are mainly based off of H.R, Giger's Necronom Series and concept drawings for ALIEN 79, I'd say I continue to be moving in the right direction. Sculpt progress on the Xenomorph - ALIEN: Covenant - 1:18 scale. Had time to work on the Xenomorph head sculpt a bit - close to completion, at least this phase. The next step will be to sculpt the jaw separately (you'll see the frame for the jaw I'm sculpting in a couple images posted). I also will begin building a buck for forming the clear dome that -hopefully- will snap on and off the finished head sculpt when complete. I was successful with the 79 beast so fingers crossed it will happen again. Some images of a test cast of the Protomorph (Xenomorph) Head sculpt and Jaw. Cast was made using smooth-on Smooth Cast 320. I resculpted the teeth of the head as I was not happy with the softness of the detail pulled from the cast. The jaw fits in nicely - more detail shots (profiles) will be shown soon. Once the dome is made, the inner mouth and tendons will be attached to complete the first master. Using a test cast from earlier today, I used Aves FIXIT sculpt and built up the dome for the beast. Sculpted the dome, allowed the FIXIT to sure and reduced the dome all over so I can achieve the correct proportional build of the clear PETG dome the original sculpt represented.
Smoothed and polished the sculpt of the dome, reduced the details below it and built up base to stabilize the piece for vac forming.
