At the time, the new equipment was revolutionary. Amtrak California had an identity. Now, 18 years later, Amtrak California has become the gold standard for regional passenger train service nationwide. It demonstrated how a state can succesfully take on passenger train service. Today, Amtrak California now has three of the busiest passenger rail corridors in the United States.

The future for Amtrak California is very bright. And almost 18 years later, CDTX 2001 (the first F59PHI ever produced), looks just as beautiful as she did in 1994. She's at home on the UP Martinez Sub, pulling a WB Capitol through Dixon, CA. BTW, the cab car was 8301, the first cab-car in the California Car series!

At South Bank on another very hot steamy morning

"Eat food. Get gas" One of Buc-ee's half-serious / half-ironic slogans.

The regulars will know that, perhaps against the odds, I delight at stopping at a Buc-ee's with their 'world-famous restrooms' and that's good 'world-famous' not bad! I also have a taste for their bbq brisket sandwiches; for photographing a mind-boggling array of merchandise and they always have the cheapest gas / petrol for miles around.

So a stop had to be made at their recently opened I-10 outlet at Luling, TX. This now holds the record for being the "world's largest convenience store", yes, you read that correctly. In size, it eclipsed a previous Buc-ee's in Tennessee.

If you need to fill up, you shouldn't have to wait long as there are 120 gas / petrol pumps. Out of sight at the far end, another 20 are currently being added.

I tell you......Buc-ee's would be a sensation if they were ever able to open and offer real competition along Britain's motorways.

A certain someone dropped my camera recently and, well, as you can see I need to either have it looked at and fixed or buy a new one. I want to buy a new one but the countless options have me paralyzed.

Get a small one that is easier to keep with me?

Buy a new Nikon with all the bells and whistles?

Consider a Lumix GX Viro which has been recommended by a friend whose work I admire?

Re: The cats. I've been brushing them, a little a day, for a week. Now they both are very soft. Sometimes they come and sit on the computer table while I'm busy. I pat each soft back, from time to time, and that is enough for them to continue to sit with me.
