Need a new perspective?Sometimes, seeing clearly requires looking at things with a fresh set of eyes. When you’re able to peer through the dust, that’s when you can reveal even more stars. ✨

Download full-resolution images of the Carina Nebula, as seen by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope and by Webb!

👉 Webb: bit.ly/3OrP22G

Want posters and zoomable versions of Webb's first images? Find them here: bit.ly/3v9F2UQ

Image description:

Image of a portion of the Carina Nebula, vertically divided in half between Hubble's view on the left and Webb's view on the right. A "Hubble" label in small white text is to the right edge of the Hubble view, while a "Webb" label in the same font is to the right edge of the Webb view. Both the Hubble and Webb views feature a a blue “sky” dotted with stars and an orange-brown “mountain range” below it. Starting with the Hubble view, the blue portion is a more faded color and mixed with shades of green. Some pink points of starlight, each with 4 diffraction spikes, poke through the blue. The orange-brown portion is dusty, and the few stars that can be seen are only tiny dots of pinkish red. The mountainous area also features a prominent knob sticking out on the left side. In the Webb view, we see that Webb’s blue portion is much more rich, dark and vivid in color. Compared to Hubble, a multitude of stars in shades of light orange and blue are visible, including two giant six-pointed stars on the very right. The orange-brown portion is also dotted with stars galore, each with a set of 6 diffraction spikes. This is because Webb's infrared vision is able to cut through the curtain of dust, revealing many more stars in the landscape.

Canon 7 with 50mm 0.95 Lens & Konica SR-G 3200 ISO speed film!

Konica SR-G 3200 (1989)

The fastest film I have ever purchased. I used it for astrophotography with my Minolta SR-7 mounted to a telescope. Also for some night time available light around Paris France. This is my final roll, unexposed, and way out of date!

Canon 7 (1961)

Fast optics were much more important in the 60's than they are today. ASA (ISO in today's speak) speed of 100 was considered "fast" and films beyond ASA 200 were expensive, very grainy, and not easy to come by. ASA 25 and 50 were the normal films so you can see why a fast lens made such a difference back then!

The Canon7 and Dream lens is still a very popular combination even all these years later.

I won't pretend that it gives me consistent spectacular results (like my 70-200 f4 on my 5Dmk2) but it sure is at the top of my list of fun cameras!

It is very joyous to take it out and consider the possibilities the lens makes available, and to take the time to attempt to make the possibilities a reality!

It is great to see these lenses making their way into the digital world as well. Many have been adapted to the micro 4/3 system and the Leica M digitalis. This seems an ideal platform for the 0.95 since it is a challenge to get consistent results with the time limitations of film. A digital 0.95 would be an ideal learning platform, the instantaneous feedback digital provides would allow you to much better master this lens.

Beibei was eyeing my teriyaki-flavoured chicken wings. But no human food for cat especially notti cat!

This was part of a display at the Philadelphia Flower Show.

The steep, dark staircase would scare me at night when I was little and staying at Gram's. The need to pee would eventually overcome the fear.

@waywardspark we think you might need a lamp like this

I'm 55 today, and I am increasingly disabled. But I keep drawing! If you enjoy my work, you can visit my blog, www.chipinhead.com/, to learn more about each piece. If you like to see me working, I'd be so grateful if you could join my Patreon for even a buck/euro a month. As I am progressively more disabled, I am able to work and earn less, and I really need the support!

I need to glue suede and wire Tansy today. I have told her not to worry and she will feel wonderful after it is done!

Think this year i am going to invest in a new carpet for this room and try not to get makeup all over it. Yep i am a mucky pup with makeup especially those bronzing pearls that jump out of the pot disappear then turn up under your foot ready to be crushed into the carpet.

Looks like a nice day outside the sun is shinning the cars are still frozen and it 10 in the morning. maybe its colder than it looks.
