These two chased each other around for 15 minutes for the rights to this tree and another tree. No contact was ever made between the two. It was lots of fun to watch.

I've been waiting for this for awhile. It's been a couple years since we had enough rain in the fall to make the waterfalls go. FWF is one of Arkansas' most popular falls. Besides the fact that it's right next to the road (I'm standing 20 feet from my vehicle here) it makes a nice swimming hole. See the makeshift ladder up the side of the tree next to the falls on the far side.
It's also very photogenic. My 1st and 4th "most interesting" shots according to Flickr are of this waterfall.
Taken at the Great Wass Island Preserve, on Great Wass Island in Beals, Maine. The 1,576 preserve was acquired by the Nature Conservancy in 1978. In 35+ years of living in Maine, I have only visited it once - something I plan to remedy soon.
It's not easy to see them in this shot, but there are a number of seals hauled out on bit of rocky ledge toward the far left.
Taken with a Minolta MD Zoom 75-150mm F4 which I have since parted with.
Some info on flowering dogwood trees
www.natureconservancy.ca/en/what-we-do/resource-centre/fe...
Flowering dogwood is well known for its four large, symmetrical, flower-like white leaves that surround a cluster of tiny yellow flowers. In the fall, it has bright red berries that grow in clusters.
More than 50 species of birds feed on the berries of flowering dogwood in the Backus Woods of Ontario alone. The flowers are visited by many pollinating insects. This makes flowering dogwood a very important tree for wildlife.
As an understory tree, flowering dogwood provides cover for many forest animals, and also protects species at forest edges.
Flowering dogwood is currently listed as endangered in Ontario and Canada.
In Canada, flowering dogwood only occurs in extreme southwestern Ontario in the Carolinian forest region

James [The Entrepreneur] finds a perch high atop a sandstone outcrop to shoot into the group. James is a cool guy. He is ready for any challenge, seems to have limitless energy and enthusiasm and is the bringer of beer.
James is always invited to every trip.

Orange Milkwort (Polygala lutea) is one of my favorite wildflower species to encounter in the Southeastern Coastal Plain. The flowers are sometimes called "Bog Cheetos".

this old diary barn is about all that remains of a farm located on a scenic hillside in the Nachusa Grasslands west of Dixon,IL.Remnants of the other buildings are scattered around including the remains of the old farmhouse, which had a nice old stone foundation.
The Nachusa Grasslands is a nature conservancy consisting of 3100 acres. Its mission is to preserve the area as a praire. This year they introduced a herd of buffalo, which can(sometimes!) be seen just north of this location.More on the area here:
