Have a nice day
Hypnotized by the
memories of the past.
The dreams of my
ancestors passing
through my mind.
Lines and prints bring
back a sense of being.
Many moons have
passed since primitive
thoughts seeped in
to bind.
Thoughts
of
the
native
kind.
These shots were both taken last year, i havent seen any of them this year yet but i do hope they return. I love how the yellow really shows off the segmentation of their bodies.
Dietes grandiflora (large wild iris, fairy iris) is a rhizomatous perennial plant with long, rigid, sword-like green leaves belonging to the Iridaceae family. This species is common in horticulture in its native South Africa, where it is often used in public gardens, beautification of commercial premises and along roadsides.
The blooms are white marked with yellow and violet. Dark markings are found at the base of the outer tepals. These are borne in abundance during summer, especially after rain. Flowers are followed by 5 cm long green capsules that contain very dark brown seeds, these are dispersed when the capsule splits open.
I built this yesterday and I am pretty happy with how it came out. And I know the one guy is bald, no need to tell me, I could not find the hair piece i wanted him to have. Were any Native Americans bald?
Should I do more Native American builds?

A Bali Aga woman poses for the camera. The Bali Agas are the indigeneous people of Bali. Most modern Balinese descend from the Hindu Javanese wave of immigration to the island, but the Bali Agas were already living in the mountainous regions of the island when they arrived. Today most of the Bali Aga people live on the eastern portion of Bali. This woman is posing next to colorful Batik cloths, a type of dyed textile with complex patterns that Indonesia is well known for. Batik is a method of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts that are to be left undyed. This dyeing method originated on the island of Java.

A little information on "Spirit Houses" . . . The graves are covered with stones, dug out from the rocky terrain and a blanket is placed over it as it is meant to warm and comfort the soul. Wooden spirit houses that families have built are then placed over the grave. Some are more elaborate than others and have glass windows and even porches and cupolas. The size of the houses is often determined by the importance of the person in the community or by the extent of the grief of the family remaining. The spirit houses are painted in the family colors and married couples often painted theirs as a combination of the colors of both families. Little houses built inside a house represent the graves of a mother and her child who passed away together. Prized possessions, such as hunting knives, guns and books were placed in the spirit houses as well. What a loving tradition.
See the Alaska 2019 set.
A detail of a native Alaskan sculpture on display at the Museum of the North, at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
Sneak peek of new build, waiting on a light to take a better overall shot. Oh, and Sweeney Horse as well
The little bees were flying in a large swarm around the Isopogon sp flowers to collect pollen. Notice the pollen presenters are different colours. The yellow ones have pollen, the orange none! It helps the bees to choose where to get their food.
In one of the photos you can see 5 bees flying, 7 in another.
Most likely Isopogon crithmifolius
