On the main street of Lahaina Beach there is a park with these huge trees in it. The pieces that you see hanging down are actually branches waiting to be tree trunks. They will grow to the ground and then root there creating yet another tree trunk to this one gigantic tree. It is really odd actually considering most trees grow "up" and not "down." There are several of these trees throughout the island of Maui.

Last Sunday Lucy went into labor. She pushed and pushed but no babies. We took her into the animal hospital near us and she had to have a C section because two of the kittens were too big to come out. Out of the four kittens only two survived the surgery and from those two only one little girl survived the night. Since Lucy is not producing milk we have to bottle feed her about every two hours. Gundi and I have been taking some sick time and sleeping on the couch so we don't miss a feeding. (Lucy and baby have set up home on a pillow behind the couch) So as of today our little baby is doing well and so is Momma. Lucy is a surprisingly good mother and seems to really trust Gundi and I and even seems to call us when her baby is hungry. There's still a posiblilty she can get sick because she's not getting the antibodies from Lucy. We'll keep you posted.
