I was asked to make a cake for a naming ceremony in the theme of "In The Night Garden" without the characters and in my style, so this is what I came up with.
A 2 tier chocolate cake(s) filled with Rosewater buttercream and covered with pale green and blue fondant, decorated with fondant flower balls, daisies, flowers, butterflies, stars, embossed clouds and moon & cloud name topper.
Top tier 9"
Bottom tier 11"

...so hard to photograph against!! the reason i had to go out in the snowstorm on sunday was to take pictures of a baby-naming ceremony for some friends. it was held in this beautiful space but it was deathly difficult to photograph anybody in front of that wall of light without having their faces be dark. i opted to shoot from the side and that worked a little but i have to do major processing work still. if only i knew anything about working a fill flash.
I just LOVED this landscape I took at the Maryhill Museum grounds so I figured I'd try and work one of my selfies in that I took 3 miles down the road at mini Stonehenge. I'm diggin' the other worldlyness of it~
the original landscape looks across the Columbia River from Washington to Oregon.
thanks to Naming Ceremony Gallery for making me a featured photographer in their November issue!

On June 2nd 1981, the first Class 56 naming ceremony took place. 56 038, was named 'Western Mail', after the Newspaper.
After the ceremony, she'd work 1O79, the 1205 Cardiff Central - Portsmouth Harbour as far as Bristol Temple Meads. The trip was quite lively, I still have audio from this run.

The paint job wasn't a complete repaint, witness the jaded blue on the roof - and the discoloured Overhead Warning sign behind the cab door. Can anyone identify any of the people there?...
56 038 was built at Doncaster, entering service in February 1978. She was sent to France between October 7th 2004 - December 27th 2006, when she was withdrawn.
She was converted to 69 008, and is in service with GBRf.

Southeastern Class 375 unit No. 375710 'Rochester Castle' stands at platform 3 at Rochester for the naming ceremony
View of the naming ceremony of the bulk carrier 'Fernspring', May 1967 (TWAM ref. DT.TUR/2/50663A). She was launched at the North Sands shipyard, Sunderland on 30 December 1966.
This set celebrates the achievements of the famous Sunderland shipbuilding firm Joseph L. Thompson & Sons. The company’s origins date back to 1846 when the firm was known as Robert Thompson & Sons. Robert Thompson senior died in 1860, leaving his second son Joseph Lowes Thompson in control. In 1870 the shipyard completed its last wooden vessel and was then adapted for iron shipbuilding.
By 1880 the firm had expanded its operations over much of North Sands and in 1884 completed the construction of Manor Quay, which served as fitting out and repair facilities. For many years in the late nineteenth century the yard was the most productive in Sunderland and in 1894 had the fourth largest output of any shipyard in the world.
The Depression affected the firm severely in the early 1930s and no vessels were launched from 1931 to 1934. However, during those years the company developed a hull design giving greater efficiency and economy in service. During the Second World War the prototype developed by Joseph L. Thompson & Sons proved so popular that it was used by the US Government as the basis of over 2,700 Liberty ships built at American shipyards between 1942 and 1945.
After the War the North Sands shipyard went on to build many fine cargo ships, oil tankers and bulk carriers. Sadly the shipyard closed in 1979, although it briefly reopened in 1986 to construct the crane barge ITM Challenger.

HMS PRINCE OF WALES, the second of the Royal Navy’s two future flagships being built
by the Aircraft Carrier Alliance, was officially named today during a ceremony in Rosyth,
Scotland.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Rothesay, followed Royal Navy tradition by triggering a bottle of 10 year old whisky from the Laphroaig distillery in the Isle of Islay, smashing it against the ship’s hull.
This significant milestone comes just three weeks after shipthe first aircraft carrier, HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH made her first entry into her home port of Portsmouth as part of her maiden sea trials programme.
