Peñafrancia Festival, the traslacion procession

Took the photo back on Sept 14, 2005 when I visited Naga City (and the Bicol Region), Philippines.

The feast of the lady of Peñafrancia takes place on the month of September. It is highlighted by several events - the traslacion - where the image is brought from its shrine to the Naga Cathedral where the novena is held; the civic parade; the military parade; and the regata procession - where hte image is brought back to its shrine.

MyCow, my standing for pictures, traveled with me all over the world. This trip to the Philippines was the first trip.

Wanna buy a votive candle? Snacks? It's a good day for business for the river gypsies, even if their shacks were demolished for the procession.

Fresh fish. The pong in the fish area did not encourage me to hang around. Better get there early in the day.
