Since the initiation of project RM and via evolution of the RM series (RM14, RM15 and RM16), RM models underwent extensive road testing to validate newly-developed technologies, observe their effects on performance, and improve them for subsequent application on future N models.

In the Hindu Rashrra defined by BJP's 'cultural nationalism', the dalits and backwards as well as minorities and women have a place only at the mercy of the saffron brigades of the Bajrang Dal and the Ranveer Sena. But making the 'Hindu Rashtra' a reality requires more than organised massacres hy the Ranveer Sena or the witch-hunting of minorities: it needs votes to realize the 'India of my dreams' which 'swayamsevak' Vajpayee promised to the VHP in the U.S. .
And it was with an eye on these votes that the saffron think-tank headed by Govindacharya came up with its strategy of 'social engineering' . It was this "technology" which the BJP used to place leaders of backwards like Shankar Singh Waghela and Kalyan Singh in seats of power in Gujarat and U.P. The early '90s was dubbed the era nf "Manda/ and Ma.,dir'', and many political commentators were eager to hail Mtmtlal and the politics of social justice as the neme.l"i~ which would bring the politics of Mandir down to its knees. .
But today, the ern stands transformed into one of 'market in tandem with mandir', while Mandai and social justice have been totally marginalised and rendered irrelevant by the market. While liherali.zation wipes out jobs wholesale and employment and educntion itscl f become reserved for the rich. the question of reservation in jobs, or a share in employment or education for the socially deprived becomes a cruel joke. Is it a s hare in employment or a share in unemployment. which is being talked about"? .
Advani has reassuringly explained that his ·hnrd state' simply means an ·effective state' in which everything will be in the hands of the murket except 'law and order' (i.e. the repressive sutte machinery to bludgeon and terrorise those who challenge privatization). Clearly. such an 'effective state' very effectively washes its hands ofT any responsibility for sc>cial justice or welfare of deprived section ! Equally clearly, any talk of social justice without challenging liberalization is nothing but lip-service aimed at attracting vote banks. .
