For the second year in a row, Jason and Lionel spent a day impersonating Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman (respectively) from MyhBusters. The costumes are fairly simple (for me a beret, for Jas the glasses) and work mostly based on context--together, wearing the props, many people appear to be actually fooled. Separately, or without the props, much less so.

Cake decorating (well, frosting things neatly, anyway) is decidedly not my strong suit. A volcano cake, though, I could be messy with the frosting. The beach sand here is crushed Nutter Butter cookies, and the rocks that spell "Happy Birthday" are made of chocolate. Note the crashed rocket car on the side of the volcano to tie in the "Mythbusters" theme of the birthday party a little.

We saw the mythbusters last night in alameda. Jamie's wife is a high school science teacher. He and Adam did a benefit for her school.
The authors notes J. R. Wait's comment on Tesla activity, : "From an historical standpoint, it is significant that the genius Nikola Tesla envisaged a world wide communication system using a huge spark gap transmitter located in Colorado Springs in 1899. A few years later he built a large facility in Long Island that he hoped would transmit signals to the Cornish coast of England. In addition, he proposed to use a modified version of the system to distribute power to all points of the globe".The authors note that no alterations have been made to the original which still contains certain minor errors; calculation errors which influence conclusions are noted. The authors also note the end of the book contains commentaries on the Diary with explanatory notes.
