Gjende (or Gjendin) is a lake in the Jotunheimen mountains in Norway's Jotunheimen National Park. The proglacial lake shows typical characteristics of glacial formation, being long and narrow, with steep walls—18 km in length and only 1.5 km in width at the broadest point. Gjende has a characteristic light-green color resulting from the large quantity of rock flour which is discharged into the Gjende by the Muru river. The river Sjoa provides the outlet from Gjende at Gjendesheim, and flows eastward into the Gudbrandsdalslågen river.

Gjende lies in the middle of Jotunheimen National Park and both to the north and south of the lake lie peaks greater than 2,000 m. There are numerous staffed tourist cabins maintained by the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association (DNT); in the west end lies Gjendebu, on the north side lies Memurubu and on the east end lies Gjendesheim. In the summer boats provide transport between these locations.

Who saw these clouds over Brighton? As the sunset burst into colour.

In those moments that are fleeting and so incredulous. I took out the bins, and spotted this natural beauty.

I love nature especially when she shows off in such a 'look at me I'm beautiful way'

I think they are Asperitas or Murus clouds, I've not run so fast indoors to grab my Nikon. I have a few so I'll share them on my website in a few days.

Fortifications Carcassonne is a medieval architectural-urbanist complex. On the hill where the fortifications of Carcassonne are now, there was a fortification before Roman rule (VI century BC).

At the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th century the settlement was strengthened by the construction of a long defensive wall of about 1200 m. Fortifications consisting of two lines of walls and a castle extend to a total length of 3 km.

St Bride's Church is situated within a polygonal churchyard overlooking St Bride's Haven.

The church was first mentioned in an early 13th century source, and again in 1291. Around 1698 an early medieval roman-letter inscribed stone (now lost) was located on the foreshore within the vicinity of the church. It has been noted that the present churchyard partially overlies a semi-circular cropmark (with north-south diameter of some 70m) to the east, visible of aerial photographic coverage. In 2002 the cropmark was noted to be visible as a slight depression supporting a growth of rushes, its western arc interrupted by an artificially canalised stream which may have originally run outside the boundary. When the stone was recorded it was located at or near the site of a cemetery, now eroding from the boulder clay at the top of St Bride's Haven. Radiocarbon samples gave dates of AD810-1090 for a cist grave, and AD1650 or later for a dug grave, meaning the cemetery was in use from the early medieval period into the post medieval period. The church is some 750m east of St Bride's castle. The church was a parish church during the post-Conquest period, belonging to the Deanery of Rhos. In 1536 patronage of the rectory was held by John Wogan of Wiston. He sold it to Francis Laugharne of St Brides in 1577, when the church dedication was recorded as `St Murus and St Brides?. By 1833 the patronage was held alternately by W.P. Laugharne, Esq., Charles Phillips, Esq. and John Nash, Esq.

The church is a Grade 2 listed building, considered important as a medieval church carefully rebuilt in the 19th century. It retains its medieval arcades, windows and doors and medieval bellcotes. It is constructed of limestone rubble and has whitewashed external walls. The building consists of 4-bayed nave, 3-bayed chancel, north transept, south porch and north vestry. The square limestone font with cylindrical base is 12th- to early 13th-century in date and sits on a later medieval octagonal limestone base (apparently another font upturned). The chancel, nave, north transept (and former south transept) all date to the 14th century. The church was restored in 1868, when the vestry was constructed from the medieval skew passage. Against the nave east wall are 2 bays of fine late medieval screen, each panel with 2-light blind tracery: a very rare survival. In the north transept are four eroded medieval gravestones: two with sculpted heads only, a third with sculpted head and canopy behind, the fourth with full draped effigy.

Hike from Memurubu to Gjendesheim over the Besseggen ridge. Here you can see the turquoise Gjende lake and down there the Memurubu hut.

Besseggen, or Besseggi, is a mountain ridge in Vågå kommune in Oppland county, Norway. Besseggen lies east in Jotunheimen, between the lakes Gjende and Bessvatnet.

The walk over Besseggen is one of the most popular mountain hikes in Norway. About 30,000 people walk this trip each year. The route over Besseggen starts at Gjendesheim, up to the trails highest point, Veslfjellet (1,743 m), down Besseggen, further over the relatively flat area Bandet (at the foot of Besshø), and ends at Memurubu, where one may take the regularly scheduled ferry route back to Gjendesheim. Many choose to do the hike in the other direction by starting at Memurubu after first taking the ferry there from Gjendesheim. The trip is estimated to take about 5–7 hours to walk without rest stops.

From Besseggen there is a great view over Gjende and Bessvatnet. One of the unique aspects of the view is that Gjende lies almost 400 m lower than Bessvatnet, and while Bessvatnet has a blue color typical of other lakes, Gjende has a distinct green color. The green color is the result from glacier runoff containing clay (rock flour). Looking down towards Memurubu one can see the nearby river Muru coloring the water with a light colored runoff.

Tharros was an ancient city on the west coast of Sardinia, Italy, and is currently an archaeological site near the village of San Giovanni di Sinis. It is located on a peninsula that forms t the cape of San Marco. Tharros seems to have been one of the most important archeological places on the Island, a century of researches has established that the town was founded by Phoenicians in the eighth century on the remains of a former nuragic village on top of the hill called Su Muru Mannu.

The Barkor is a popular devotional circumambulation for pilgrims and locals. The walk was about one kilometre long and encircled the entire Jokhang, the former seat of the State Oracle in Lhasa called the Muru Nyingba Monastery, and a number of nobles' houses including Tromzikhang and Jamkhang. There were four large incense burners (sangkangs) in the four cardinal directions, with incense burning constantly, to please the gods protecting the Jokhang. The Tromzikhang market is busy in Barkhor, and the area is a major tourist attraction.

Barkhor Square and Jokhang Temple

Because the Jokhang Temple has been a symbolic center of Tibetan protest since 1987, the Barkhor has also seen many demonstrations. In 1989, when year the 14th Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize, pro-Dalai Lama residents threw tsampa around the Barkhor to celebrate. After the Central government denounced the prize, residents who continued such demonstrations were arrested. The square was briefly closed by riot police during the 2008 Lhasa violence.

The new Bus Interchange on a walk around the city on a damp grey day August 29, 2015 Christchurch, New Zealand to catch up on what's happing.

The Bus Interchange incorporates integrated artwork by Ngāi Tahu artists. The artworks are based on the Narrative provided by Matapopore Trust on behalf of Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga. The narrative is centred around Ngāi Tahu migrations from afar, from the North Island and within Kā Pākihi-whakatekateka-a-Waitaha,(Canterbury Plains).

A number of constellations used by sea-faring navigators adorn the passenger lounge ceilings and bird life on the indoor tree-shaped columns represent those gathered near Hine-Pāka, the great Fowling Tree.

The outdoor Colombo Street columns will feature a war party of chiefs lead by Tu-rakau-tahi into Kā Pākihi-whakatekateka-a-Waitaha (Canterbury Plains). To the south is a column that will depict Te Muru looking out over the awa Ōpāwaho (Heathcote River). Through occupation and use he was acknowledged by whānau of Kaiapoi as the Kaitiaki of the awa (Guardian of the river).

A large compass is etched into the stone outside the main entrance pointing to the significant places depicted in the Narrative. Karakia (prayer/blessings) asking for good health, strength, enlightenment and safe travels are located near each of the five entrances.

Interpretation panels telling the story of each piece are located throughout the Interchange.
