Here is a closer view of one of the lillies shown in the previous picture. They always amaze me. If you look at the bottom left, you will see a twisted flower. This one has bloomed and is not fading away. I like how they sort of wrap up into themselves. (See the next picture for a much closer view.)
Chispitas, now called MacroVital, is a multiple micronutrient powder used in Guatemala to help prevent micronutrient deficiencies, including iron deficiency anemia. Each sachet contains a powdered mix of vitamin A, vitamin C, folic acid, iron, and zinc which is sprinkled on to a child’s first foods to improve his or her nutritional intake.
In 2007, the Micronutrient Initiative, with funding from the Izumi Foundation, provided more than 20,000 children in three districts of Alta Verapaz with Chispitas. The success of this pilot project has provided the impetus and leveraged Government of Guatemala resources needed for wider scale-up. The project was expanded to the rest of the province in 2008. Resources from development and cooperation agencies and government departments are mobilized for national scale-up which began in 2009.

A variety of plants and flora cover the floor, walls, and even wooden beams on top of the interior, ranging from palms to fichus plants, to ferns. 004-009,013,016-018, multiple shots of two females, one standing and one sitting in a possible storage room area. Woman sitting down is older and has short light hair and wears a floral patterned outfit. Standing woman has short dark hair and wears a semi formal outfit. Both of them hold and admire a porcelain type diorama of female children in Victorian or Edwardian outfits with the faces obfuscated. Desk lamps, ceiling lamps, boxes and other objects such as a mobile made of small pots occupy the background. 010,014,015, three shots of a window sill that holds a glass stained diorama of an arch with a top with the Christian symbol of a cross on it. In the middle of the arch is a representation of a dove and a small fountain, most likely representing the Christian concepts of the Holy Spirit and Baptism. Setting is most likely a church or other religious institution. 011,012, two shots of a entrance way of a possible residential environment, such as a private home. Door is made out of wood and glass. Large window sills hang overhead. A hat stand sits by the door with hats on it. A large potted plant sits by hat stand. Floor is made of stone but as it descends is covered in carpet. Outside is a large oak tree.

SB-800 with diffuser hood on held in my hand pointing up my arm. The far left flash looks extra bright, but in fact, the moon (see next photo) happened to be directly behind my hand... wild.
Striped Dolphins January 28 , 2014
It was nothing short of a horror movie this morning in Taiji. The killing cove was a bright crimson blood bath after an entire family of 60-65 Striped dolphins were savagely murdered.
This morning the Striped dolphin pod was found by the killers at approximately 8am and by 9:30am the pod was netted into the confined space of the cove. The dolphin killers pushed a majority of the dolphins under the tarps and began to slaughter one by one. While the sound of thrashing was heard from the shore and the cove water turned red, 5 dolphins remained swimming only feet from the crime scene. Panicked from the sight and sound of their family murdered in front of them, those dolphins became injured, entangled in nets, and spy hopped out of the water to beg for mercy. Their fight and pleas fell on deaf ears as the killers ruthlessly murdered them in the same horrific manner the dolphins witnessed only minutes before.
By the end of the morning, an entire family of 60-65 Striped dolphins, that included babies and juveniles, was nothing more than slabs of meat loaded onto skiffs and used as seats for the killers on their way to the butcher house.
