This is the companion video for a paper we submitted recently. It describes a technique for interacting with parallel coordinates using the multi-touch trackpad found on laptops like Apple's MacBook Pro. Below is the abstract from that paper:
Interaction in visualization is often complicated and tedious. Brushing data in a visualization such as Parallel Coordinates allows the user to select data points according to certain criteria. Modifying a brush or combining it with another one usually requires a lot of additional effort and mode switches.
We propose the use of multi-touch interaction to provide fast and convenient interaction with Parallel Coordinates. By using a multi-touch trackpad rather than the screen directly, the users hands do not obscure the visualization during interaction. Using one, two, three, or four fingers, the user can easily and quickly perform complex selections. Being able to change the selections rapidly, the user can explore the data set more easily and effectively, and can focus on the data rather than the interaction.

A Roll of Plastic film i picked up from Blicks that's used for wrapping motorcycle headers. It's really rubber but has a smooth slick surface that's perfect for multi touch.

Working with Hard Rock International’s crack technology, property-development and memorabilia teams, and our friends and software development partner Vertigo, Duncan/Channon designed three interfaces for the new flagship cafe on the Las Vegas Strip. These include two custom apps for Microsoft Surface – the multi-touch, multi-user, interactive tabletop – as well as a touch-based interface for the restaurant’s 38 booths (shown here), where guests can manipulate memorabilia, peruse merchandise and vote on what video plays next in the cafe.

El iPod touch tiene un diseño completamente nuevo: es más delgado, ligero y espectacular que cualquiera de los modelos anteriores. Solo tienes que sostener uno en la mano para comprobarlo. Presenta un diseño curvado de solo 7,2 milÃmetros de grosor. La parte frontal, de vidrio ultrarresistente, y la trasera, de acero inoxidable, son muy agradables al tacto. Hay muchas razones por las que te costará apartar la vista del nuevo iPod touch. Por ejemplo, la pantalla LCD retroiluminada de 960 por 640 pÃxeles: tiene una densidad de 326 pÃxeles por pulgada, la mayor jamás vista en un iPod.
