Comme tous les coléoptères, la coccinelle passe du stade larvaire au stade adulte par une métamorphose complète. En fait, chez les coccinelles, cette opération de mue s’effectue trois fois ; après cette transformation larve et l’adulte ne se ressemble pas. Au dernier stade larvaire, la coccinelle complètement formée se dégage de la peau de la larve (notre photo).
Like all beetles, the ladybug passes from the larval stage to the adult stage by a complete metamorphosis. In fact, in ladybugs, this moulting operation is carried out three times; after this transformation larva and the adult is not alike. In the last larval stage, the fully formed ladybug emerges from the skin of the larva (our photo).

Larve de tenthrède en cours de mue accompagnée de sa petite cohorte de parasites sur carex dans une prairie humide du Moulin de Blanchy (Corrèze - Limousin) (06/2010).
This Sawfly larva (Dolerus sp.) sheds its exoskeleton. Mites that parasitize the larvae move to stay on it. The larvae of sawflies and their relatives molt, or shed their exoskeletons, or hard outer coverings, up to eight times before becoming a pupa.
