A diversion into MSP due to thunderstorms in Chicago, United 836 from Shanghai taxis to terminal one for an overnight stay after a long wait on the remote apron.
Going through some of my early photos after getting into DSLR photography... I thought I'd post a few more from this memorable event.
Another grungy, rainy shot taken from 5,100 feet (1.55km) away. These rare scheduled 747 flights out of MSP are always worth catching even in less-than-ideal photographic conditions.
A very rare sight of a British Airways aircraft at MSP airport. They usually only end up here due to some type of emergency. This one was a passenger medical emergency while enroute from London to Phoenix.
Seen here at engine start after pushback, it would taxi to the 12R deice pad for treatment prior to departure.
China Eastern 255 departs for ORD after a three-hour stay at MSP, diverting here due to a spring snow storm in the Chicago area.

I'm not certain if this registration had ever been at MSP before, at least I couldn't find anything going back eight months. I chased the former Continental heritage livery (N75436) back in June before I knew it had been repainted to regular United colors. That's when I became aware the Continental heritage livery now flies on this registration.

The clouds rolled in, but it was still a good day. I got back into aviation photography just about two years ago and this "flying fish" has been on my list since day one.

On the roll down runway 22. This was a diversion on its way to Tokyo from Detroit, now continuing to its destination.
This plain, white, vanilla Kalitta Air converted 767 freighter previously flew passengers for Gulf Air out of the Persian Gulf island nation of Bahrain and Transaero out of Russia between 1992 and 2015. Completed Bedek Special Freighter (BDSF) conversion in Oct. 2018 and entered service with Kalitta on 13 DEC 2018.
It is rare to see this Air Europa Airbus A330 in the USA outside of JFK and MIA. This aircraft was a substitute for the scheduled Condor Boeing 767 due to mechanical issues as I understand it.

Arriving from Phoenix, CAVOK Air 7146 completes it's 4 hour, 8 minute flight. I'm not sure what it's purpose was, but it ended up at Signature.
Delta 788 from Los Angeles on short final for runway one-two right. Activities commence at the ballfields in the background welcoming the first warm days of summer in the Twin Cities.
Throwback Thursday upload from the Canon G3 archives..."City of Tokyo" gets airborne off runway 22 on a hot July afternoon.
Construction still taking shape on runway 17/35 in the background which would be completed and operational in October 2005.
I can't make out the registration on the ex-UAL DC-10 at the FedEx ramp. It wouldn't surprise me if it's still operating in the FedEx fleet as an MD-10.
