That’s why the project team has supported culture preservation, biodiversity preservation, community livelihoods and economic development simultaneously. Through this support, they are proving that truly sustainable livelihoods are possible, that conditions exist where people and planet can thrive, and by showcasing how maintaining the forest can also be economically beneficial for the community.

Yesterday, the Kenya Small Business Development Centers (Kenya SBDC) team held an introductory meeting with the Safaricom- M-PESA team. It provided an opportunity for the two teams to have a better understanding of the work they are doing to ensure MSMEs increase their profitability and productivity. Additionally, the meeting provided an opportunity for the two teams to identify possible areas of synergy.

For instance, one of the possible areas of collaboration is Improving MSMEs' access to finance and finding innovative solutions to unlock sources of capital, and training, and mentoring targeted MSMEs in areas such as financial management. Ultimately, this will lead to increased MSMEs' productivity. #KenyaSBDC #MSMEs
