It is also home to the ‘Great Central Railway-Nottingham’.
A large site which houses an extensive collection of vintage buses as well as standard gauge and miniature railway vehicles and artefacts.
Originally a station on the ‘Great Central Railway’ extension line that linked Sheffield with London via Nottingham and Leicester.
Steel City Hobbies sponsors the 2008 Snowbird Nationals again this year, but with a twist. Owner of SCH, Michael Rooney, has been producing the video portion of the Snowbirds for the last four years. Last year as well as this year have been production shoots for a documentary on R/C Car Carpet racing called "Carpet Racers". The film is slated to be release sometime mid to late 2008. Preserved 1971 Barton AEC Reliance 1229, MRR 811K, parked up at Ruddington. With numerous Barton Plaxtons preserved that, at a glance, all look alike, it's hard to keep track of which is which. This, however, is a new one for me, since 1229 has had a fairly recent re-emergence after several years of storage and has an unusual 3+2 seating arrangement inside which sets it apart from the rest - not that you can really tell from this photo, though.
